He can catch way better than Boyd. He runs harder than Boyd (I think partially due to Boyd's hesitation of injuries), and he seems to be more clutch.

He's also the perfect 3rd down back and you don't have to sub him.

Does he have the top end speed and elusivness? Probably not. Is he the best back for the team? Maybe.

Am I crazy? Boyd seems to disappear in big situations.

You are not wrong, he is scared to go forward. Lots of hesitation.

The offense seems sluggish with Boyd in there. Smith moves better, I’m not so sure Boyd is near healthy.

Y’all are being rough on Boyd because of the critical drop. He had some strong runs for 1st down and a TD.

Carries were equally split as they should be. Neither back can carry the ball 30 times.

I honestly think he could be the #1 back.

Yes. Smith has been the better back all year. He has earned the starting position. Boyd is missing some of his burst this year. Hopefully he can get it back.

I would go with Smith as the starter but give Boyd plenty of carries. Boyd isn't up to game speed yet. He started off fine but seemed to slow down as the game went on.

Which is what you will get when a player isn't up to game speed. Let him play himself into shape.

Better to have two backs you have to pick from then be scouring the locker room for anyone that can carry the ball.
