I’d love it if State won 10-11 games yearly, but I know UGA fans are used to it. Is that success enough for you guys, or do you need to see a NC soon?

We enjoy being in the top 5, but of course we want a national championship. Hopefully the stars align one day, but there is a long running curse in the way.

Yeah, we’re just waiting for them to take 1980.

Hell no. We have the best athletes around and should be crushing the league easily. The leadership and mindset hasn't been there.

I thought it was 1940 not 41. We went 10-0-1 in 40 but Minnesota claims that NC. I think we went 9-1 in 41 and won the SEC championship

I, for one, prefer to be on the edge of my seat for the entire football season, with the Dawgs in consideration for something big. I would not trade one oddball Natty for mediocrity. Dawgs best teams haven’t gotten lucky breaks a la 2-loss LSU teams that won it all. Eventually they’ll get the breaks and get one. I personally am satisfied, for for the moment.

When would you not be satisfied?

According to the 247 Team Talent Composite, Georgia is the most talented team in the country.

How many years are Georgia fans okay without actually winning a National Championship?

Please say 40, please say 40, please say 40...

Put it this way - in the last 50 years Georgia is as consistent a program as there is in college football. Won 440 games, 7 SEC titles, and a national championship. There are 6-7 better programs across that particular timespan.

You can argue why not 54 years, or 62 years, or whatever you want, but 50 seems relevant to me and that's why I picked it.

But it's kind of a perpetual hell to ALWAYS be right on the cusp...and any UGA fan who tells you otherwise is lying.

There are three true joys in college football:

1. Being elite - no explanation needed. Congrats Alabama fans on being this.
2. Beating your rival. Yessir....our rivals are Florida, Auburn, and Tech IYAM because I'm old school. Some of the best people alive went to those schools and I ENJOY our games with them. Those games really have gotten to be about the only ones I enjoy/watch and of course are the ones I want to win the most. If we lose them, it was their year and I hope they're happy as I am when we win.
3. Being the fan of a fricking terrible program. All the scheming and planning, coaching rumors, recruiting tidbits, plane tail number tracking...anything to give you hope. And imagining. Glorious imagining how it's going to be when you're the man again.

We've had #2 plenty in the last 50 years. We got some of #3 with Goff and Donnan. But #1 has been elusive...

Would I trade it for Vandy's experience or Mississippi State? Probably not.

Satisfied? No. But I am happy with the progress we've made under Kirby. There are still things that need to be improved though.

Of course I would not be completely satisfied without a natty at some point. Dawgs cursed with their prime being the same as Saban and Bama. But I’d rather be UGA over the last 20 years than TN any day.

#1980
I hope that answered your question.
No, we are not satisfied.

They have aligned 4 times in my lifetime. We have 2 title appearances and 1 championship to show for it.

Luckily we have the CFP to make sure those things don't happen again...

But they aligned for us in 2010 after over 50 years. They will align for you guys sometime.

We have played one game and had no real preseason to speak of to break in the new OC.

We will be fine.

When you have the resources of Georgia and see Bama right next door having that kind of success, no, they are not satisfied in the least, nor should they be.

Same goes for Fla and A&M and any program with tons of local talent and lots of money.

Yes. There are 2-3 years in which Auburn could have made the playoffs yet went away with nothing. The biggest travesty, imo would be 2004. That had to have been tough for Auburn fans to be left out of the big game and then see the title vacated because one of the teams they chose to play in the game had cheated.
