3 things that shocked you about your team Saturday

I was SHOCKED at how well our receivers played. Most don’t realize it but since 2018 State has been notorious for God awful receivers. I was SHOCKED at the defensive game plan and how well it worked. I knew it was a good system just thought the talent wasn’t there. I was shocked seeing how well the air raid translated over. It was the first game. Defenses will adjust, but man was it fun.

Zero shocks, thankfully

That we didn’t win by 60+.

Went as expected. Nothing to see here. Next thread.

Nothing shocks you when Muschamp is your head coach.

I was shocked by the made field goals. I was shocked that the defense played extremely faster and with so much more intensity than last year. I was shocked at the pinpoint accuracy of Mac Jones' passes.

You should probably curtail your excitement till you play a real quarterback.

Idk about shocks, but pleasant developments I was concerned about:
1) Nix looks better.
2) Defense—especially secondary—is reloading, not rebuilding
3) Seth Williams is still the SEC’s daddy

Our defense wasn't great at all but they were light years ahead of where I expected

Shocked that mizzou didn’t let up more yards considering our starting CBs were true Freshman

I agree with you. But, over on the TigerRant, there was a thread with lots of pictures of open LSU receivers. In everyone, the quarterback was busy daydreaming and didn't see anything. Made me laugh at how bad he is.

that first interception where they said his arm got hit was 6 for your receiver. I wasn’t impressed with our DBs (one of them is a damn walk on lmao)

Well, no one here is shocked that you have an over-inflated view of your teams capabilities.

1. Matt Corral looked better than I expected. 22-31 (71%), 395 yards, 3TD, 1INT (batted down ball), 50 yards rushing.
2. Defense....I think everyone figured that our DL would suck, but damn. The lack of pressure really hurt our DBs as well. LB play was fine, but zero pass rush.
3. Logan still sucks and can't kick a FG.

That's what happens when Les Miles is your HC. No, wait. That was 4 bad QBs ago.

I was shocked at how well coached and disciplined we were for the first game considering our youth, new systems, and less practice time. I expected a shite show. Instead we had few penalties, were mostly crisp, and played hard. Complete 180 from the shite we saw under Moorhead.

Agree here. State's defense did a poor job covering receivers, but did a good job confusing Brennan taking away what was supposed to be the game plan where they wanted him to throw it. That was clear from his post game interview where he specifically said he kept seeing state defenders in his designed passing lanes which is why he hesitated so much, yet you could see almost 2 maybe even 3 guys running wide open outside the hashes pretty often

We gave the opponent the ball 2 times inside our own 30 yard line. That was special. The icing on the cake though was our Australian punter showing up drunk for the game. Not sure which first down marker he was aiming for when he decided to take off with it.
