It's been shared on the NFL thread that C. Parkey's been activated from the Brown's practice squad, but wanted to start a separate thread on him.
I've always liked the kid and looked a little bit into his NFL career as I don't follow the league too closely, just the Titans and former AU players.
He's starting his 7th season in the league and his 84.3 FG % is good enough to land him at #17 NFL Field Goal % Career Leaders since 1938. LINK
Outside of the "double doink" to end his time with the Bears, not sure why he's jumped from team to team like he has. Someone who keeps up with NFL better than I do - do kickers usually move around this much?
Indianapolis Colts (2014)
Philadelphia Eagles (2014–2015)
Cleveland Browns (2016)
Miami Dolphins (2017)
Chicago Bears (2018)
Tennessee Titans (2019)
Cleveland Browns (2020–present)

I cant remember which season, but he was killing it and hurt his leg. Was cut. I think this illistrates how the league views kickers as disposable vs his talent.

He had a huge contract w/ the Bears w/ over 9 million guaranteed. After the Double Doink game, he went on national TV just 4 days after that heartbreaking loss to discuss it.
The Bears management had not been notified by him, and they didn't think he should be discussing it, especially when the city and players were trying to heal from that tough loss. It was just bad optics.
I feel that is what set him back in the league after the Bears let him go.
And now he is making about 200k in hopes of sticking with the Browns.

Tennessee Titans (2019)
The Titans went with Gostkowski instead of Parkey, one of the best kickers in the NFL. Missed 2FGs and an extra point try, before kicking a short one to win the game.

You gotta suck pretty bad to get traded that much.
I know he's struggled a bit in his career.

they are either settled for a few years or a dime a dozen and move around.

It seems that at that level, you have to be hitting at a really high clip or you are at risk of being shown the door. I think it is because teams don't carry active backups (unless you count a punter who might be able to hit a chip shot now and then).
You have guys like Matt Bryant who was on 4 teams in 7 seasons before landing with the Falcons. He was then in Atl for 10 seasons hitting on about 88 or 89%.
He gets cut after 2018, then brought back because the replacements sucked in preseason. He gets axed after 7 games because he was only in the 60% range in those games.

I think I remember that he went to the Pro Bowl one year, and got injured and cut the next.
