Bama slips slightly to #49 in overall state rankings. (US News)
We are talking about Alabama now. They can rebound back into the top 45 with a good recruiting class.

So the number 1 best State is Washington and the number 3 is Minnesota? Yes Minneapolis and Seattle seem like excellent places to live.

They still show MS having the racist state flag. If they had known it has been changed MS would probably be in the Top 10

Those are both great cities, certainly better and probably safer than just about anywhere in Mississippi.

Ever heard of Rip Van Winkle??
Where you been bruh?? I could timewarp back to 1964 Mississippi, piss right in Byron de la Beckwith's face, then run around all of his buddy's houses screaming "where all the white women at", and STILL be safer than living in Minneapolis and Seattle... Those democratic run shitholes are an embarrassment...

I do declare, I believe these ranking must have come from MSNBC or maybe The View or HuffPost. I currently reside in Georgia. When I retire I am only looking at the following three states. These three states have the finest food and the most wonderful and friendly people the nation has to offer. They also have the highest family values.
To use a truly southern term, "I ain't lost nuthin' in Missouri."

So southern states are dumb?
Now I get it.

I live in Alabama. I work in Georgia. I see that Georgia is #17 on this list, while Alabama is #49. Where I live in Alabama has a much better quality of life than Georgia.

Yeah but its an aggregate ranking, so there are bound to be a few examples of this even when comparing a bottom 5 state to a top 5 state.
I live in Alabama, but work takes me all over the southeast. As far north as Kentucky, as far west as Louisiana and as far east as the Carolinas and occasionally the panhandle. I don't have a particularly hard time believing these rankings given the condition of the roads, how clean they keep them and whatnot.

Yes, that is why I take these kind of rankings with a grain of salt. Its very subjective. I'd would much rather live in a southern state like Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia etc. than those two refrenced. Living in a place like that just would not be for me. I know there are those who would disagree but each to their own, I won't be moving up there

Is OP under the delusion that we don't know our states are poorly run, poverty-stricken areas that "compete" for jobs by touting low wage, non-unionized labor and have banana republic style leaders who got where they are by thumping a Bible, scapegoating unpopular minorities and pandering to a common denominator so low that it somehow tunneled into the Earth's molten core?
Yep, Alabama has a low quality of life.
In other breaking news, Ed Orgeron has poor diction.
