Georgia trailed 15-2 before "that kid from Johnson County" scored twice to pull out a 16-15 win.His first TD was the infamous run over Bill Bates.

The SEC has had some very special RBs.

Arguably the weakest team from the SEC to win a national championship in the Poll Era.

Not really the point of this thread. Feel free to make your own argument in your own thread.

Nah, the hardest hitting, most physical team I have ever seen. Watch clips from the Notre Dame game and their defenders were getting leveled. Hell they knew what we were going to do and still could not stop us.
I have never seen anything like it.

Why, bro? Dudes an all timer in the league , on a memorable Cinderella team that won a championship. There was nothing “weak “ about that team.

It's called a "thread hijack," you should look into it.
Anyways...look at this schedule from 1980:
@ Tennessee (5-6)
vs. Texas A&M (4-7)
vs. Clemson (6-5)
vs. Georgia (1-10)
vs. Ole Miss (3-8)
vs. Vanderbilt (2-9)
@ Kentucky (3-8)
vs. #14 South Carolina (8-4)
vs. #20 Florida (8-4)
@ Auburn (5-6)
vs. Georgia Tech (1-9-1)
Not one of their regular-season opponents finished ranked in the AP Top 25 and all but three of them finished with losing records. It's no wonder Herschel Walker balled out as a freshman that season. His competition was JV at best.

I listened to that game and when I tuned in Ga was losing. I was a big fan of Larry Munson and enjoyed his play by play. You younger guys missed a treat. Munson's call and comments Georgia v Ut

“I had seen enough of him to determine that he should carry the load in the second half,” Dooley said in his book, “Tales from the 1980 Bulldogs.” “That was when I said, ‘He may not know where he’s going, but he’s going somewhere in a hurry.’”

Well, if you're going to hijack my thread I can hijack your post.
How was Alabama's 1979 schedule any harder than Georgia's 1980 schedule. Plus 1980 Notre Dame was much better than 1979 Arkansas for Sugar Bowl opposition.

You left out Notre Dame who slapped a top 5 Alabama team that season and then Georgia beat them. That’s really the only proof needed Georgia was the best team in 80.

And keep in mind Georgia would go on to challenge for National titles in 81 and 82 on the back of Walker.
Losing a nailbiter to PSU in 82
Losing a tough game to Pitt in 81 - Dan Marino’s squad

Best RBs in SEC history;
1. Bo
2. The poors can decide. Nobody really cares.
