Shrewd move to consider opting out to force his rookie contract out the window early.

Great player and a high character.
Much deserved.

Good for him. Most lsu plays get paid through children's hospitals but he broke away from the pack

The question is how much did lay pay him?

55 million guaranteed over 4 years. Let's do some quick math.
$13,750,000 per year
$572,916 per pay check if paid twice monthly
$343,750 after Uncle Sam takes his cut. Less if he lives in a blue state with higher taxes.
*Actually they pay professional athletes base on where they play their games. So even if someone played for Dallas, if they play a game in Chicago they will get hit with Illinois taxes for that week.
Of course this doesn't account for subtracting his signing bonus, incentives and many other possible perks.

I am not sure that anyone "deserves" that much money for playing football. But hey, if he can get it, more power to him.

Yes, let's. Reading your post, he must be one of the few players who act as their own agent since you haven't accounted for that.
O wait a minute...from the story:
quote:
White’s agents, Kevin Conner and Robert Brown, from @UniSportsMgmt confirmed the deal.
He's got TWO agents who get a cut.

I think the real question is “who is lay?”

Good player. Better than Pat Peterson at LSU imo, just didn’t have the recruiting fanfare or measurables but he was a better corner
