I can only dream of VOLS holding a Baker Mayfield led Oklahoma team to under 500 yards and 50 points.

No one gives a shite about Baker's first game as a sooner in 2015, which was also his first game in 2 years.

Instead, we are talking about a well oiled machine led by the Heisman in 2017, and we shut that shite down in the 2nd half. You can only dream of that happening.

Do yard and points not count as much when given up in the first half instead of the second?

Been less if our idiot oc coordinator called a better first half and chewed more clock and rested the defense...

So now you’re blaming Chaney for putting up 54 points in a playoff game.

It was a tale of two halves. Gave up 31 in first half, 7 in 2nd, and only 3 in two OT. Defense clearly dominated after half time when we needed them most. Great coaching made that happen.

No, thank the Seniors for overcoming his awful coaching in the first half.

I think you're right. Tennessee isn't a great state for recruiting, and if Pruitt gets them to a respectable level, he's going to replace the Dark Lord in Tuscaloosa

I have a feeling that you are right. Reuben Foster & Da’Shawn hand both made comments that Pruitt was hands down the best football Coach they had ever had. And as much as I hate Tennessee, I have a bad feeling he will be the first Assistant to get the W against Saban.

But I thought you were arguing that Chaney was a hack that time had passed by and now you're swiveling to argue your defense was the reason you beat OU?

Doesn't make much sense to me. If your offense doesn't score 50+ you don't win the game. Doesn't matter what your D did for a half.

Well you scored like 50 pts and had to goto over time against ou. It seems your defensive guy let you down in the big games it mattered most.

Our D dominated the 2nd half of that game, so try again.

Is it still a dominant performance if you give up 48 points? You can say whatever you want and maybe you did do well in the 2nd half but it should have never came to that. There is no fricking world that giving up 48 points in a game is a dominant effort by any stretch of your imagination. Especially if all you had to do was "hand the ball off and chubb and michel and they would just score at will"

Do the math: 31+7+3 = 41 not 48.

That’s a dominant performance after halftime. Credit to great coaching halftime adjustments.

Tennessee is fine for recruiting and is only getting better. It will surpass Alabama in terms of talent within the next 10 years and be right in those groups behind TX/CA/GA/FL. But it’s crucial TN fares better these next 5-10 years than the last or it’s another crop of misstate guys with no loyalty to the home state.

Not to mention they have an easy time getting blue chip recruits out of NC/SC/VA and Georgia can’t keep everyone. Once Dabo jumps ship and Mack Brown fizzles out that will help a lot as well.

He threw for 388 yards and 3 tds the week before he played Tennessee. He had 3 games in 2015 where he threw for less than 200 yards...Tennessee, Oklahoma State and TCU. BTW...He threw for over 300 yards against Clemson in the FBS Semis...

They might tie us at 3rd, but they wont be finishing ahead of Kentucky. Better luck next year Vols.

No one gives a shite what he did vs AKRON either. Y'all didn't face the much more experienced Baker that played against Clemson either.

Dude. We had 2-3 drives that were first play TDs.

I get arguing that our defense was on the field a lot, but blame that on the awful Oklahoma Defense, not the OC. I've never seen a defense that lined up as poorly or took as many terrible angles to the ball then tackled as poorly as that Oklahoma defense. They were fundamentally bankrupt.

Pruitt has done a good job of addressing needs. The Oline with the two big tackles, and T'oto'o is a stud.

Tennessee will have a tough road to hoe, but they are light years ahead of where they were under Butch.

Long running plays between the tackles are a credit to the player not the play call.

I absolutely agree, which is why I don't think you blame Chaney.
If I understood you correctly, you said it was Chaney's fault that our defense was on the field so much. No. It was Oklahoma's defense being so bad and letting us run all over the field. I think Oklahoma fans would agree.
The Oklahoma defense was just horrid.
