I was told they were easily the top OL in the SEC. Good thing they will definitely have Cade Mays to help them out this year.

Huh.
Maybe Mond IS the best QB out there, and we would never know because he spends more time on his back than one of the ladies in a Nevada brothel.

Getting access to the new PFF college football premium stats has opened my eyes up to a lot of things I just didn't know much about previously.
For instance the OL grades are verrrrryyyyyyy interesting.
Tennessee's OL last year was pretty absysmal...
- Wanya Morris and Darnell Wright both graded out below a 40, making them among the worst in CFB. Marcus Tatum and K'Rojhn Calbert both graded out under a 53 as well...those are abysmal OT numbers; Jahmir Johnson graded out at 72.5 at OT which is quite good but played the least amount of snaps of anyone for Tennessee at OT I previously listed
- Their interior OL was also quite bad except for Trey Smith who graded out just under 80 which is very good...Locklear and Carvin both under 60 and the center Kennedy also just under 60. Kennedy and Locklear were both at least close to 60, but Carvin was nearly at 50 which is not good.
On the flip side of things, you hear a lot about how good UK's OL was, and it's no joke, the best OLine in the conference last year probably as a unit. UGA had a small chink in the chain, Bama is also very comparable though to UK
- Of the UK primary 5 starters; Jackson, Sternberg and Fortner inside as well as Young and Kinnard on the outside...NONE of them graded out below a 75.3, that's incredible.
- UGA's OL by comparison had Cade Mays grade out at 65.5 (everyone else good to great)
- UA's OL by comparison had Dickerson at 77.9, Brown close to 75, Neal just over 71, Leatherwood a 74 and Wills an incredibly 88.7. So I'd say right there with UK, just a couple guys slightly lower than UK's "worst"
For those not plugged into PFF's grading system, their college ratings basically go somewhat like this:
90-100 = Elite of elite
80-89 = Great to Elite
70-79 = Good to Very good
60-69 = Average range
50-59 = Mediocre
40-49 = Bad
Below 40 = Awful

myself am a sucker for OL stats like this. It's the last area of the game where we just go "I dunno ole Bobby does a great job", though more often "WE CAN'T BLOCK NOBODY PAWL THIS LINE AINT LIKE THEY USED TO BE JUST PUNCHUM IN DA MOUF"
Such an underrated statement

Here is another stat, pass attempts per sack allowed.
33.83 Bama
27.66 UGa
22.66 Aub
21.42 Ark
18.68 Fla
18.64 SC
17.14 Tenn
16.20 LSU
15.81 Miss
15.12 UK
13.93 Mizz
13.61 Van
13.29 A&M
10.16 MSU
Looks like 15-20 passes per sack is about the average. Arkansas is surprising, as is A&M and State.

And not a Kentucky OL to be seen on that list.
Jean Delance shouldn't be on that list. Our OL just sucked so much at other parts that he probably got away with just not even being targeted on most pass rushes because we had turnstiles at the other OL positions.

Perfect phrase that sums up the dumb frick rednecks across the south and how most of them watch the game.

This is why I question the source.
McCollum was not a starter last season due to injury. He was SUPPOSED to be the starting center but had to fill in at guard from time to time.
A&M's worst returning offensive linemen: Carson Green and Jared Hocker, are nowhere to be found on this list.

We're not surprised by that. The A&M starting center last season was easily the most physically weak offensive lineman in the entire conference...as a SENIOR.

So ignore those games, and only focus on how two True Freshman OTs played against Florida, Georgia, and Bama in the first half of the season.
Got it

They didn’t play all that good in any games besides vandy.

Would be interesting to see how much pressure Burrow faced last year. I keep saying that he and CEH made that OL look a lot better than they actually played. Rewatching some of the games lately shows Burrow running for his life fairly often.
Seems somebody totally disagreed with that because they won the award for best o-line and had major success. Would be even more interesting to see how successful Joe and Clyde would have been with no blocking. When asked who are you going to thank first when you accept the Heisman Trophy Joe Burrow replied my Offensive line. To assume that they should never get beat is unrealistic and delusional.

You should have kept reading the thread...

87th!

They were true freshmen starting on an OL (not WRs or even DLs but true froshies on OL) and it's been documented that JG holds the ball longer than anyone else. His average is high. Cade is icing when he gets cleared.
Wanya Morris - 2019 Freshman All-SEC Team
Darnell Wright - 2019 Freshman All-SEC Team
Yeah they turrible.

Well, yeah. Is it not important to note the level of competition when bragging about how good they were in the last 6 games?
