UK doesn't own Rupp Arena so UK can't change it. The City of Lexington does. Rupp was the first coach in the SEC to offer scholarships to African-Americans. He offered Butch Beard in 1963. But I guess facts ruin the narrative.

Eh, the university asked for suggestions on improving race relations on campus. They got back a list of recommendations, many of which they'll never implement or consider seriously, and Rupp was one of them but no one is demanding anything. What UK got was a list of suggestions and recommendations that they asked for.
Students and others might pick up on the name and call for it at some point, idk, but right now that isn't happening. There's nothing 'cancel culture' (whatever the hell that is supposed to mean, anyway) about UK asking for suggestions and getting them.
