Louisiana easily has the best quality seafood while simultaneously having the worst bbq. We are just behind Texas for best Vietnamese, which is better anyway. I defer to Houston with asian food in general.

Don't let Mississippi fool you. The cuisine on the coast is stout. Basically an extension of LA cooking.
Food on the coast is great. Plenty of Louisiana transplants here. Frankly, since I've moved to Biloxi, the only thing I haven't been able to find is a good muffaletta.
Can't find as many oyster happy hour specials here either, but I'll live.

FL wins this round. They have everything other SEC states have plus some more.

this is the first time i've ever lived in a state where you can walk in to almost any large chain grocery store and buy fresh oysters, my wife tells me there's a rule of thumb about oysters, only eat them during months ending in an "R" any you guys ever heard anything like that?
The reason that's said is because in the summer months, gulf water gets warmer and has lower salinity.
Lower salinity = more bad bacteria in oysters.
I don't eat raw oysters in the summer.

All I know is that the same LSU fans that lament the existence of New Orleans for politics will immediately claim the city for food.
I doubt Louisiana cuisine goes very far without it.
This is the stupidest comment.

It's been said before and I'll say it again.
Maybe Florida has a little more variety, but Louisiana seasons, prepares, and cooks everything better.

Sad that your hate has clouded your judgement.
I don't hate Texas outside of the dumbasses that don't wear masks.
I respect the hell out of the Texas pit masters that can smoke a mean brisket.
I just really don't buy that Texas has better seafood than LA, MS, or Fl. That claim just seems a little fishy.

That’s not all of what you claimed

They also have shitty beer. No one has ever argued against me on that.

I did and do. Sorry you only tried Lone Star while you were there.

Oyster happy hours disappeared because during the bp oil spill some rogue oyster harvester decided to raid and destroy Appalachacola's oyster reefs.
Still have not rebounded. Many coming from cedar key now but the overall numbers available is way down.

I didn't try Lone Star.
What are some good Texas breweries you'd recommend? I'll give them a second try if I get the opportunity.

Spindletap, True Anomaly, 8th Wonder, Eureka, Austin Beerworks, Celis, Zilker, Blue Owl, Lazarus
There are dozens of great breweries in Texas

Bonnet Carre fricked the oyster beds up in Mississippi and Louisiana too.

The coast has better seafood than Texas. I'm sorry it's just true.
Mississippians have better culinary sense than Texans. It just is what it is.

#1 Louisiana
#2 Mississippi
#3 Florida
#4 Alabama
#5 Texas
#6 Georgia
#7 South Carolina
After the first two it's a very tough call. Texas and Alabama could be higher. Gulf states are first in this category.
