Florida seafood hands down. Let me know when y’all are bringing hogfish, conch, and lobster back to the docks in Venice. This is a clown question comparing any other state to a giant peninsula when it comes to seafood

Most small towns in Louisiana south of I 10 have a decent seafood market and restaurant.

That’s old advice. With refrigeration, load up on Spring Oysters to get you thru the summer

My family’s been charbroiling Oysters since the 50’s, a favorite of my Grandpa Ryan. We didn’t put cheese and all the other crap on em just hot Sauce or A-1 sometimes & fresh cut lemon juice.

Boil and reuse your oyster shells and try it.

Summer Oysters for sale in Seafood shops are frozen and thawing for resale. Try em!

The only other way I’ll eat an oyster is if it’s fried and we limit our fried foods. Also good is Thanksgiving Oyster Dressing (Small Oysters) with brown rice

Bon Apetit

I lived in South Carolina in the late 1990s, I will never forget going to a "Cajun Restaurant" and ordering gumbo, I swear they must have served Campbell's chicken gumbo soup out of a can!

On another occasion there was a "Cajun Festival" held in Columbia, they imported a band out of Louisiana that was legit but then they had the crawfish.....are you ready....they sold a tray of crawfish that had SIX crawfish, six of them! They were precooked with no seasoning, thrown into some boiling water to warm them up then put into a small tray where they then sprinkled the seeds from an opened bag of crab boil. The gal handed it to me and pointed at the seeds and said, "Look at all the seasoning!"

Folks, anyone who says South Carolina has the best seafood needs to get out and travel a bit.

I have lived in South Carolina (2 years), Georgia (3 years), Texas (13 Years), been across Miss, Alabama, and Florida many times over, of course grew up in New Orleans and lived in Baton Rouge for 7 years, and let me tell you there is no competition, The winner is LOUISIANA and it is not even close.

All I know is that the same LSU fans that lament the existence of New Orleans for politics will immediately claim the city for food.

I doubt Louisiana cuisine goes very far without it.

Louisiana wins the salt and freshwater seafood competition hands down.

catfish, Crawfish, Redfish, Tuna, Speckle Trout, Oysters, Shrimp, rays, sharks, skate, Snapper(Red, Mutton, mangrove), Sheepshead, kingfish, ect.
It's not close in terms of how the seafood is cooked but When I say Florida is up there easily I'm talking panhandle to the Keys.

Mahi, Black Fin Tuna, Redfish, Specs, Spiny Lobster, Slipper lobster Lionfish, Rays, sharks, Grouper, Amberjack (Both greater and lesser), Grunts, triggerfish, Hogfish(my favorite), Wahoo, All the pelagics, all the billfish, kingfish, Shrimp, Blue Crabs, Stone Crabs, Mantis Shrimp, Yellow tail Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Sheepshead, Red snapper, queen Snapper, Vermillion snapper, and I can keep going

The worst part of our seafood industry is that we produce more than any country in the world given the different climates coast to coast and North to South. We import more cheap arse seafood from places like Chile and Vietnam than export.

Thank you.

Not to mention has the 3rd largest natural coral reef filled with diverse species and I love the keys and Dry Tortugas for spearfishing. 2019 was the first lobster season I missed in 5 years.

I will agree that Florida has the best access to fresh fish, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they have the best cuisine.

I love Louisiana cooking. But if we are just talking seafood, it’s Florida and it’s really not close. Also Gulf Coast seafood> Atlantic seafood

Venice, Louisiana is the real Sportfish Capital of the world. There is little that can't be caught off the oil rigs. Yellowfin, Massive Mahi, Snapper, swordfish, and Grouper.

I have fished Islamorada a bunch and while the runs to the fishing spots are shorter, it does not compare to Venice, LA. Tuna alone puts Venice well above the Keys.

You’re changing the argument. Fishing out of Venice is better than the keys. But you can catch everything off of Florida that you can off Louisiana. But Florida has better oysters and scallops and Florida has lobsters and stone crabs.

I’ve had some great seafood in South Carolina but it was at the lost Cajun seafood restaurant. The guy was from Lafitte Louisiana. So Louisiana is number 1 SC 2

Yellowfin bite alone makes it better. Yellowfin Tuna straight out the water is the best there is in any ocean.
