For the Buckeyes it was 1988 (LSU)

Aside from 2006 Vandy, Michigan hasn't scheduled an SEC team since at least before 1973 (only site I found with season results went back to 1973), but the Wolverines almost always took care of business with SEC bowl opponents.

Well let's be clear about this; you can put it another way. When was the last time Florida, Georgia, LSU, or Auburn tried to schedule Ohio State for a home and home. I don't think you can just blame this on the one side. OSU will play anyone anywhere. They obviously don't shy away from any programs, as they'll have hit every conference but the Big East by 2018, and pretty much the best teams in each conference.

Honestly, I think that if Auburn asked Michigan now to play, RR would be for it by 2010; he doesn't shy away from anyone; heck, he's the one who scheduled Auburn for WVU this year.

In fact, I think it's more that the SEC is to blame. Isn't there a stat showing how far each conference has traveled for OOC games in the last like 10 years?

Well I agree that the SEC is making much more of an effort now. I just love to see games like OSU/USC or LSU/VT or AU/WVU to see where top teams from a conference stack up against each other. Even in bowl season it's a month of time between games. Here, teams have just gone through 2 a days or through a few weeks of games and boom, marquee matchup.

I love it as a college football fan

When Miles said something derogatory about another conference he was ripped in message boards and media circuits throughout the country. Tubby says it and it slips under the radar.

I still think the Chaz Ramsey Chop block on Dorsey was likely intentional. I will never forget the SEC official looking straight at it and not even throwing a flag. I can't prove that Tuberville was involved but I suspect that those two Auburn guys were told to do that so that they could at the least get Dorsey out of the game (almost ended his career). The SEC should have conducted an investigation and imposed life-time bans on anyone involved (coaches and players), if they determined that it was planned. This may have been far more than just a flagrant penalty. If it was planned, it was a despicable attempt to end a great player's college and pro career. The officiating at the LSU-Auburn game in 2006 recalls the NBA official who bet on games, etc. (Donahy?). I suspect that Tuberville may be willing do anything (whether or not moral or legal) to win. No one (other than those involved) really knows whether Tuberville really was involved, but the SEC should have at least investigated. The post-game show after last year's LSU-Auburn game on Eagle 98.1 discussed this issue extensively, and (although they implored the SEC to investigate and take decisive action against the chop block perpetrators) they predicted that nothing would be done. What we don't need is for this to carry over to this year's game (isn't Ramsey injured?) and create a really ugly situation.

Well, maybe that just says something about the importance of both football programs?

I would say LSU is a tad more nationally important in the media than Auburn currently is.

You really bumped this? Do you search Chaz's name and bump any thread with him in it?

Of course with 2 crystal footballs LSU is more nationally-relevant. Also, could be that the USC (University of Scratcing Crotches)adoring media see LSU as the biggest challenger to their presumptive annual favorite and Les hit a raw nerve. After last year's NC beatdown of the Big-10 champ by the SEC champ for the 2nd year in a row, there's not a whole lot that can be said in the Big-10's defense at this point.

Ohio State is not afraid to schedule a home and home with Auburn. Maybe Auburn's tried to schedule a home and home with a few Big 10 teams, but not all.

If they did try OSU, though, I could see the Bucks turning them down. It's not cause we're afraid, though. We're set through 2019.

2008-09: USC
2010-11: Miami
2012-13: Cal
2014-15: Va Tech
2016-17: Oklahoma
2018-19: Tennessee

Set??? You do know you have 4 OOC games per year not just 1 right?

Ok, let us try to use common sense. A) You admit the SEC is trying harder with out of conference programs. B) We all know OSU's stellar record against the SEC in the past few decades (not sure whey an SEC team would duck a bye). C) You say they will play anyone, anywhere while another OSU fan demonstrates one OOC game a year against a real conference means 'you are full'.

Doesnt shy away, but wont be ready until 2010. Sounds a little shy for 2009.

look at the quality out of conference opponents year after year. Just because you guys lose to Appy State, W Michigan, North Dakota St, Iowa State, Bowling Green, Duke etc... does not mean they are worth a shite.

What was the Big 10's marquee OOC win last year? What were the 4-5 toughest regular season OOC opponents. Impressive.

I don't think he is. This is the second time he went out of his way to take a shot at the Big 10 when he didn't have to. Auburn used to be one of my favorite SEC teams, and now, I'm really, really starting to hate them.

You would be frustrated too if some joke conference consistently produced inferior teams with better records due to lack of competition. Hell two years ago, you yahoos were trying to argue you had the two best teams in the country based off your bogus conference play. Seriously now.

Cmon buffalo, when you have to run the gauntlet of teams like Indiana, Iowa, Minny, Purdue, and NW, and play 2 real teams out of conference... not possible.

And yes OSU dudes, I realize LSU scheduled weak OOC wise this year and rarely more then 1 real team (but we actually have to play most weeks against real teams in conference)
