I grew up in St. Louis so not the south even though we say y'all. This whole Confederate battle flag drama. What if a new flag was designed based on the battle flag but with slight differences. And that flag was used as a recognition of "southern heritage" that any southerner could fly. Black, white, brown whatever, but southerners only.

Could that work?

Lol no. This isn’t about solutions. This is just about the left being able to flex the power muscle. Only time can heal this (maybe).

BLM should announce they are now using the Confederate Flag as symbol of Equality. Everyone in power should support it. Every AA should take to streets and use it against the racists who fly it. Would be an epic troll. Take the power back.

How about just focus on a part of your heritage that doesn't center around a 5 year period where all your "heritage" did was fight a war for slavery?

When I was a kid many years ago, Confederate Battle flag was a big up yours to the Yankees who came down to tell us what a backward, ignorant bunch of rednecks we were. We didn't even think of it as being offensive to blacks. We were naive I guess. To us it was a symbol of being proud of being southern. Then a bunch of pinhead neo-Nazis and racists and Klansmen appropriated it and made it a symbol of hate. Damn them anyway.

The drama around clinging to a flag has always been silly to me. The south kicks arse in so many ways. We have food, music, natural beauty, athletics, and women that the rest of the country loves and enjoys. Instead of getting fired up for a flag that was flown in a bloody war against the US, maybe we should go hike in the smokies, eat fish and grits, blast Johnny Cash and OutKast while watching the SEC championship with a beautiful girl from South Georgia.

I love the south so damn much, while simultaneously not having any sentimentality for any confederate shite.

I don't get why this is an issue. Why would anyone want to fly the flag of an enemy of our country in the first place? It's ironic because I think a lot of the same people that fly the flag of our enemy on their trucks and homes also are quick to question the patriotism of others. And those same people also often tell black people to get over it because slavery was during the time of their great great great great great great great grandparents but yet they can't get over it when it comes to what flags they fly.

Why would you even want that to work when they went to War to create what they called a slave-ocracy?

Outside of History Books & Museums and private collections, the confederacy should be erased from all public areas of American Life, the same goes for extreme segregationists, but I'm willing to negotiate on that issue
