Seems like UF dethroning UGA in the East is the trendy pick this year

While I respect how UF played us in TS last year, I'm always skeptical of trendy picks. And you should be too. Kirby has recruited more horses than Mullen and seems to have UF's number.

I expect to see UGA back in Atlanta this December.

I’d like for it to happen. But I doubt it. This year anyways. I’d take 1-1 against LSU and UGA.

Mullen’s a better day game coach but it’s hard to compete with Kirby’s recruiting ($$$). He does it Bama style.

It was the trendy pick last year too.

I think they've got a real chance, and I really like the roster they have, but Mullen's track record in big games is not super reassuring.

I don't know man. It should be another great game this year. UF has a ton of talent coming back and UGA is breaking in a new offense without the luxury of spring football. This should be UF's year to get it done.

UGA is in full blown rebuild on O with none of the pieces having sat in a meeting together yet much less practiced. The D will win them games but the O will cost them a couple too.

It seems to be the one game that Kirby has circled on the calendar every year. I imagine he remembers the SOS years and wants to replicate that.

Sucks for the vols that they don’t get to play uga early before the O can gel.

What is there to dethrone? Uga hasn’t won shite beyond the SEC. 40 years of wandering in the desert.

This is mostly right, and there is a 50/50 chance that Florida will be one of the losses.

And, if that happens - this place will be having a collective orgasm to picture of Mullen.

UGA has studs all over the roster, but UF has more experience where it matters. UGA is also breaking in a new OC and offensive scheme which could be a disaster, or it could be explosive (in a good way).

He looked like it on 4th and 2 inches last year when he called a 7 yard out route that fell incomplete in the first quarter of the WLOCP. That spoke volumes about Big Game Dan's game day swag.

I’d just like to know how Florida is going to manage more than 17 points against what should be an even better UGA defense this year after losing Perine, Jefferson, Swain, and Cleveland. And how UGA can possibly be more dysfunctional on offense.

Two Points:

1. Trask’s knees!
2. Florida young WR Corps

Florida wins the East if Trask’s knees hold up and if the WR Corps can mature quickly

Games to watch (Litmus Test):

Fla vs KY on 9/12
Fla AT Tenn 9/26
Fla vs LSU 10/10

The Game
Jacksonville: Fla vs GA on Halloween

If Florida gets past Ky & Tenn and keeps the score respectable vs LSU, they have a good shot to beat GA on Halloween.

Losing any of Ky or Tenn games or being routed by LSU and they likely lose to GA

I'll remain cautiously optimistic but there's a lot to feel good about if you are UGA fan.

Agreed. Credit to Trask for being thrown into the fire and exceeding expectations, but I think the dreaded soph slump (not indication of class - just a saying) and past knee injuries catch up with him this year (making Mond clearly best qb in conf but that’s beside the point).

Ags vs UGA in ATL in DEC. Book it.

But then I’m reminded of the overhyped SEC star-strucked Newman and I’m back to being torn who we play out of the East.

Newman.

We have one key advantage.

UGA hasn't gotten spring practice to install their completely new offense.

New QB, new OC, new Oline, new RB.

That is a shite load of new to have half the time to prepare that you normally do.

UF kept the same offense and defense, just replacing parts but all have been in the system long enough to know it which benefits us during this chaos.

We shall see. UF has gotten better each of the last two seasons. Our blue chip number is up, and we have depth at most positions. So I highly doubt we regress suddenly, especially with a returning QB who proved himself last year.

The big question for the game will be can Mullen out scheme Smart this time, cause he certainly didn't last year. Year before he gets a pass because the game was close before Henderson and Wilson were out..then Chaney raped our shitty back up corners like children.
