He was like 5* recruit and pretty big piece of your 2010 natty team and then poof, he just disappered.

Fantastic talent. Chiz was terrible at discipline and many of his guys took terrible turns. The last straw was the kidnapping. We fired him.

First off we arent the "war eagles" but you already knew that...
Dyer was a head case. He was an exceptional talent but like was said beautifully in the Aaron Hernandez Netflix series... He was a football player who wanted to be a fake gangster.
Chiz brought in many questionable characters. Dyer was the perfect example. Had Dyer played for an Urban Meyer coached team, he likely would have finished his career with his indiscretions swept under a rug to never be spoken of again until some reporter dug it up.

My question is what became of his high school teammate that got to ride his coattails to Auburn. He got arrested there and never was heard from again. Can't recall his name.

Chizik is a good example of the high points and the low points of these emotion-first/cliche/players' coaches, all wrapped into a very short tenure.
He was a very good person who thought he could bring out the good side from questionable kids and succeeded over the short term, but it caught up to him quickly and he was out of his depth.
Due to semi-sketchy coaches under him (but who were extremely energetic and charismatic), he was able to cast a wide net for some of these talents, but he had very few experienced/grizzled/no-nonsense folks to help him keep the prima donnas in line.
