Well. . . No shite. But the other poster asked if recruiting should be included in ranking head coaches so I responded that it should be since it’s a part of their job. No one is arguing it carries more weight than trophies.
It should not be considered. Winning trophies is the only metric that matters for coaches. The rest all feed into it, but they are completely irrelevant if no trophies are won.

Congrats, it's still early in the day but this is the dumbest thing I'll read on here all day.

And yet, I'm objectively right in every way.
You don't have to like it, and I have a pretty good hunch why a UGA fan doesn't.

Nah, you're not being objective at all You're choosing to look at only one thing of it and I'm looking at the entire picture that creates that one thing.

Cut it out. You can't be serious. You really believe that Mike Leach is the second best coach in the sec? That's not even a good joke. What has Mike Leach ever done? I'm waiting...
Hey guy. There's no need to get so upset and angry about my list. It wasn't a personal attack or anything. Good golly you LSU fans are so sensitive. I put Leach at second because he's the coach of my alma matter, and I believe he has a lot of upside and am excited (as are other MSU fans) to watch the coming seasons.
I'm assuming your whining is due to Orgeron being so low. My thinking is that his only success comes at a naturally talent-rich school, and, aside from the season he had an all-star QB, he's lost some games he probably shouldn't have. He also got fired from Ole Miss. He wins more championships, he'll be right below Saban, but I'm not going to put an Ole Miss reject at second just because Joe Burrow won a championship. Just like Crab Legs winning a championship doesn't make Jimbo a good coach.
Normally I apologize when I make a post that upsets people, but my personal list was so unoffensive, that I'm not going to do that here. The fact that you still found a way to get offended and cry about that post shows how much of a whiney crybaby you are. Sad really.

Okay, I'll give you credit for this one. He may suck as a head coach, but he knows how to git dat money!

To be honest, Leach IS the most entertaining coach in the SEC. How can you possibly hate on a man for that? I'm really looking forward to the next season simply because of what I think Orgeron might do with his Tigers and the sass that I expect to come out of Stark-Vegas!

An argument can be made for this....except for Malzahn over Kirby Smart. Mind saying why you would put Malzahn over Smart? I am not trying to start anything...just wondering what your thought process was.

And you're acting like participation trophies count in college football.
Inputs don't matter. Only outputs.
Recruiting is irrelevant if you can't win the big ones. Again, you're a UGA fan, so I see why you're taking the stance you are.
Here are two examples:
Dabo Swinney. He wasn't recruiting lights out until very, very recently. Yet he has two national titles to show for it. He does more with less.
Kirby Smart. He's been recruiting lights out since day one at UGA. He has no national titles and sincerely struggles in big games. He does less with more.
Guess which of those formulas leads to job security?

Re; Smart, he's flat out choked in the biggest of games.
So Malzahn hasn’t? Or are you picking and choosing which big games matter?
And recruiting is a part of being a HC. I don’t know why so many people ignore this.

Nope, never once said anything remotely like that. Only that it's part of the job so it's retarded not to include in in the ranking.

Nope, but he recruited a great qb in Watson who he wouldn't have won a championship without. But somehow that fact escapes you.
Coaches should be ranked by the total package which has a ton of variable. Otherwise coaches like Stoops and Mullen(had he stayed at MSU) would never be ranked fairly because they are probably never going to win at those places but they're some of the better coaches in the league.

Coaches get too much credit when they win and too much blame when they lose.

Crap dude. gene Chizik won a trophy as a HC.
So did Larry Coker, and Bobby Ross. No. Winning a National Championship does not give you an edge over a coach that does not.
Well, it does a little, but there have been some pretty bad coaches that have won national Championships.

And yet after getting his best class ever at Clemson he got blown out in the National Championship game. Don't get me wrong, I think Dabo is a great coach.

It is included already: in the output. If a coach doesn't win trophies, how he recruits doesn't matter. You want some kind of additional commendation for recruiting but it's already baked into the entire package: winning is the only thing that matters.

You just proved my whole point. Recruiting is only an input, not an output. The only thing that matters is the output.

Coaches are ranked by winning. Period.

Some view Kirby Smart as Mark Richt. Just a better recruiter and that is it.

And he's got 2 National Titles, so he can obviously put it all together. He's an elite Coach. No doubt.

Of course he's learning. I think he's a great coach, but based on how great he recruits and the results so far, he has a lot to learn. He won't keep his seat from getting warm by just recruiting 5 starts. He needs to win some trophies.

Like they were given the players that were on the team and won it all? That is not a bad coach! Kirby could not win with top recruiting class and it is a proof of a bad head coach! Not just one year but for 3 years!
