The word: One of college football's more underrated league rivalries, LSU-Florida promises to be a physical game often decided in crunch time between two evenly-matched programs. This one carries high stakes in 2020 with the loser likely having a lot of work to do in their own division by slipping a game back of fellow contenders Alabama and Georgia. One of the most important matchups for both preseason Top 10 teams this fall, the game inside the game featuring Bo Pelini's new-look LSU defense against Dan Mullen's creativity offensively should make for an exciting chess match. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium will be rocking for this one.

FLORIDA VS. GEORGIA

Projected line: Bulldogs by 2

The word: Could Georgia be the SEC's best team this season? A lot of questions must be answered on offense to get there and there's an early barometer at Alabama that will go a long way in determining the league pecking order. Dan Mullen has been terrific after his first two seasons at Florida, but he hasn't beaten Georgia yet and that's all anyone will be talking about when 2020 is over if it doesn't happen this fall. He was hired in Gainesville to win the SEC and compete for appearances in the College Football Playoff, right? As it often does, this matchup should decide the division unless Tennessee builds on its strong finish or Kentucky surprises under Mark Stoops. This year's cocktail party in Jacksonville is on Halloween, the first time that has happened since 2015 (a Florida win).

TENNESSEE AT OKLAHOMA

Projected line: Sooners by 7

The word: Surprised by this opening line a bit? Two takeaways from this — Tennessee could challenge for eight wins this season with a little luck during Jeremy Pruitt's third campaign and oddsmakers could be taking a slight pause in Oklahoma's annual status as a College Football Playoff lock. The Sooners have dominated the Big 12 during Lincoln Riley's tenure, but they'll start Spencer Rattler at quarterback in 2020 and it remains to be seen if he'll have the success of the three elite players before him at the position. This is one of the more intriguing out-of-conference September games across the country.

ALABAMA AT LSU

Projected line: Tigers by 1

The word: Where does LSU go from here at the top of the mountain? With the losing skid to Alabama over, perhaps the Tigers begin a streak of their own against their arch SEC West rival. They were shut out the last time they hosted Alabama at Tiger Stadium, but it's hard to imagine that ever happening again with the program's updated philosophy offensively. LSU's success in 2020 will come down to its starting quarterback. As for Alabama, getting back to the basics defensively and playing with a chip on its shoulder after missing the final four is the collective mindset entering 2020.
