We need to add about 3-4 more players to the LB room with the new defense. I'm assuming most of those will come from the current roster. Moultry, Hall, Height, etc...
The former Buck position currently on roster will mostly cover that need. They’ll have to learn a new position and may not be the best fit but I’m not convinced we’ll be running mostly 3-4 anyways

Would be huge.
Do we really need more OGs? Council was pretty solid until he was hurt. I thought KJones did a very solid job of filling in. And T Manning was good last year but just inconsistent.
I guess more competition can't hurt. But it seems our entire OL roster is mostly guards.

Did you see our OL play last season?

No.1 JUCO OG
Would hope he'd do more than occupy space.

A concern is whether or not Council will be ready to go. His injury was late October and it was supposedly an ACL. Granted, the timeline on that injury has improved greatly over the years and Auburn might be one of the best places to pop one
I wouldn’t mind Hammond but KN said Florida didn’t expect to sign him either. He originally committed to Florida out of high school before going to JUCO. He’s a former 4*. I hate to speculate about grades but I’m not sure what else it can be at this point
I wouldn’t expect Auburn to sign him either, FWIW

I think we'll run a bunch of Okie fronts until we get more guys that fit the scheme. 3-4 and a 5-2 are the same or similar, but the weakside DE has different pass coverage responsibilities in a 3-4.

Lots of Okie and Eagle. But I bet we still see 4-3 alignment and assignments. They’ve talked a lot about being multiple back there

Yep. Hell, we'll be running nickle still probably the majority of the time, just based on offenses now. The alignment isn't really the key to the defense anyways, it is the gap scheme on the line that dictates things.
Hell, Bama hardly runs a true 3-4 anymore. lots of 4-3 and 4-2 fronts.

Who's Kevin Greene in an 46/Eagle look? Moultry is a fast twich guy and may be a dark horse. Still concerned about offsides penalties.
This is a good read for anyone interested: 3-4/Eagle that Jones is talking about

These questions are why I’m not confident about personnel. Honestly, it’s going to take me some time to adjust
I still like Moultry inside. He’s big and gets downhill (often too early). Would love him in those gaps

I think we'll struggle early on D, and I expect it. Its a completely different way of defending. Pelini at LSU was a hothead, but he's a good coach. LSU struggled early from transitioning from Aranda's two-gap/3-4 system. We'll be doing the opposite but the same adjustments and uncertanty are present. I think Nix and Tank will keep us in a lot of games next year.
