Synopsis: Keep them at 4 teams, but play it (and choose the participants) after the bowl games. It only expands the season by a week, and it only makes 2 teams play 16 games. Bowl games matter again.

Sadly, A&M still won't.

It's funny how often A&M fans come up with ways to change the CFP playoffs as well as the conference alignments. It's almost as if they're trying to game the system to give their team a better chance of actually achieving something.

How about this, aggies, quit trying to change the system, and just try to win in the current system.

But Georgia won't get to play in the Sugar Bowl as much anymore...

If we keep the same shitty conference tie ins, I'm out on this idea.

They're also going to have to find a way to make the 1st round games more regional or a home game for the highest ranked team.

Let use next year as an example. We can pretty much assume some version of Ohio State, Clemson, OU and some SEC team will make the playoffs. The first round will be the Rose and Sugar. The Sugar is an easy trip for most. But will any of those schools have enough fans make the trip to Pasadena and then Miami? Both will be uber expensive trips with having to book flights around NYE to either Cali or Nola then deal with Miami a few weeks later.

I still say it's time to get rid of conference title games and one non conference game.
15 is a lot of games for college players

Any expansion of playoffs also needs to include on campus games for higher seed

I think that would be awesome.

That’s one of the dumbest ideas I’ve ever heard in my entire 12 year life.

And now it's on tSECr. Who brought it to tSECr, you ask?

Yes, an aggie dumbass.

Keep pushing for a different system, aggie, maybe one day you'll find one your team can master.

Just take the top 2 SEC teams from each division as your 4 teams.

The goal is to get the best 4 teams in CFB, right?

I honestly think the BCS (and even the poll era) was fine. The committee just tries to do what the computers did, and obviously can't process the same amount of data. I think what everyone wanted was for the committee to simply verify the BCS rankings.

The current set up is... dumb. There are rarely 4 deserving teams to claim a national title. Adding more and more team makes it less special and less fair. I would rather see an undefeated UCF get a chance to play than a 1 loss weak schedule Oklahoma. I dont care who is better on paper, I care who has a better season.

My suggestion: Let's have a fluid playoff system. We don't need to commit to 4 teams making a playoff. Maybe we only need 1 game to decide the champ one year, and 2 rounds next year, or no games at all. Use BCS rankings, let a committee decide the playoff structure each season.

Here's how the following seasons could have shaken out:

2019 - 3 teams (LSU, Clemson, Ohio State). Committee decides top seed (LSU) and they get a bye. #2 & #3 play each other. Winner plays LSU for the NC.

2018 - 3 teams (Bama, Clemson, Notre Dame). Same as 2019

2017 - 4 teams (Clemson, OU, UGA, Bama). Actual 4 team playoff as it happened.

2016 - 1 team. Alabama is champion, no playoff needed

2015 - 1 team. Clemson is champion, no playoff needed

2014 - 4 teams. Committee decides 4 teams are worthy to compete for title. 4 team playoff.

2013 - 2 teams. Committee decides Auburn is a valid challenger to FSU. 1 game championship

2012 - 2 teams. Committee decides Alabama is a valid challenger to Notre Dame. 1 game championship.

2011 - would be a very interesting decision by the committee

Yea, it would be difficult to schedule these uncertain games. BUT they can easily do it. there are billion dollar stadiums at almost every P5 school that get used 8 times a year. I dont care if we can't guarantee a big contract game for Hark Rock Stadium in Miami years in advance.

aNm doesn’t have to worry about the CFP. You’ll never make it.

Saban suggested this a few years ago.

At least it's not going past 4, so it's better than other suggestions. But I'm still in the "if it ain't broke" camp.

Bowl matchups are not equitable. They would give certain Conferences an advantage.
