I understand why some would be offended, because of conditioning. They come to expect it from an older male dominated field. However, they (she) also needs to understand that he (Pittman)grew up southern and contrary to some perseptions, in this case, was showing respect. It was not respect in a manner in which she is use to though. People are messy, just all there is to it, and your perceptions are real to you whether everyone agrees or not.

“Young Lady” is going to be “Bert” for this reporter. The minute you let the masses know something trivial bothers you it will be your identity. I’m just glad we don’t live by her rules or Pittman would have to change “yessir” to something more gender inclusive.

It will be real funny when her employer loses their access to the sports program they cover.

Better course of action for her would have been to try to simply talk to Pittman about. Try to explain why it bothered her, AND listen to his response. See if it can't be resolved without fanfare. But its much harder to try to resolve issues, and face real feelings from everybody, including yourself, than to simply get pissed about them.
