Good, if the options were Pittman 3M/year vs Drinkwitz at over 4M a year.
I'll gladly take Pittman

So if he wins 8 game 4 years in a row then he’ll increase his salary $3 million over that time?

I love the huge incentives there. That is a huge carrot for him to right the ship quickly

That's how I read it. that's a pretty good gig with very reasonable achievement tiers for him.

He will have gotten a new contract after the 2nd 8 win season, I assume.

I suggested $500k per win for coaching contracts awhile back and this is a step towards that direction so I'm good with it.

The buyout clause is awesome.
Winning record = 75% of remaining contract.
Losing record = 50% of remaining contract.
Also like the auto rollover for making a bowl game.

HY got the contract he wanted. I hope we didn’t miss out on other coaches because of these type terms.

I have to say, I like the contract. I can also see why Sexton/Kiffin didn't like it at all. Holds them accountable. If we get lucky and Pittman works out, then could set a trend of sorts, or at least elements of this contract. I could especially see the buyout cluase being popular. Hell, that is the best part IMHO.

We are currently in a contract dispute with Bielema because his lazy arse wouldn’t find a job
HOLY shite - we just hired someone who could provide witness for Bielema’s ineptness and laziness. I’m sure Pittman has witnessed some poor character moments from ol Bert as well.

Yeah, but no coach with options will accept these terms. It’s like HY is saying that he wants to hire someone that won’t be hard to fire. Really morbid way of hiring a coach.

Why does everyone falsely assume this is the same contract we offered Kiffin?
This contract reads this way because Pittman has zero HC experience.

I bet we offered much more $$$$$ to Kiffin but I could see the buyout being similarly structured. Yurachek has been wanting to start a trend in this direction. Would love to see buyouts like this happen but I think the toothpaste is already out of the tube for college football contracts.

Probable because it was reported before Kiffin was out, that the contract was incentive heavy and back loaded just like this one. This combined with previous statements by HY, and I tend to think that a very similar contract was presented to Sexton/Kiffin.

I assume the numbers were higher for LK but I bet it was heavily incentive based. That’s HY’s thing.

Yurachek said we will have $5 million for assistants

Need some more context to know how good that is

same amount OM said they are giving Kiffin. OM offered an additional $2MM for analyst positions, i think. not sure if our $5 includes that or not

The only real difference is the 75% isn't guaranteed, not that is should be a detriment in the process other wise your hiring a guy who's pretty much going "I don't know 6-6 sounds tough".
Ground breaking would be the same buyout terms extended for a coach leaving for another job.
