Why does A&M call themselves this? Not a flame, genuinely curious. You never hear "Ohio Buckeyes," "Mississippi Bulldogs," etc.

Why does LSU call themselves the tigers when it’s named after a racist confederate battalion ?

Cause we're the Aggies from Texas. It was good enough for Bear.

The definition of an aggie is an agriculture college, or a student at such a school.

On the other side of the coin, A&M has that kooky victimhood monger Prof Feagin. I guess every university nhas one of those though

Every post you’ve made here has screamed “longhorn.”
You just confirmed my suspicions.

My aunt is an Aggie but my uncle-in-law is a Horn. Interesting conversations during holiday dinners

One of life's mysteries I guess. As in...
Why would a school in South Louisiana use a Bengal Tiger as a mascott? I mean they are native to India and China not the U.S. or anywhere in North America.
Who really knows where this stuff comes from.

the Bengal Tiger in Louisiana Military Heraldry dates back to 1838 with the formation of the Washington Artillery of New Orleans (which per Peter Finney and Dan Hardesty) was one of the units the University got the name from...
if you look at the details of the crest of the 141st Field Artillery, you will see the tiger in the crest is a Bengal Tiger
