When I saw this quote yesterday it really confirmed it..
The guy is looking for anything he can to rationalize letting Tua play after multiple injuries. The fact that Tua has already had two surgeries and still playing is ridiculous. Also, Saban allowing him to rush back from the last ankle surgery is also absurd. He wasn’t even away from the game two weeks after his surgery. Who does the decisions benefit the most by letting him play? Tua was already going to be a first round pick in the NFL, so what person benefits the most. Saban doesn’t care for his players and instead of being a rational adult, he allowed a kid rush back from injuries only to cost him millions of dollars. Then he puts all the blame on the kid, sucks to be a sucky person.
quote:
Saban: "Both times that (Tua) was injured this year -- and I don't mean this to be a negative -- but sometimes you just have to know when to give up on a play. ... He's such a competitor, he wanted to make it work and put himself in a bad position. We hate it for him."

Saban is correct and it doesn't take a football expert to figure that shite out. In both instances (Tennessee and Mississippi State) the play was dead and Tua had been chased miles behind the line of scrimmage before throwing the ball away just before getting hit. In both instances, had he thrown the ball away as soon as the play was dead, he wouldn't have gotten injured.
Just about every player who has played QB for Saban at Alabama has been able to do this and do it well. Tua continually refused to accept failure on a busted play instead of cutting his losses and waiting until the next play to make up for the mistakes made on the previous play. Sometimes that led to a scramble for a first down, sometimes it led to a turnover, and sometimes it led to an injury. It sucks but there it is and Saban isn't trash for pointing it out.

He's right. Both injuries this year were due to Tua waiting too long to throw it away.

Saban was absolutely correct, and the only piece of trash is you. Shame on you for slandering a man like that.

I think you’re overreacting. And I also think Saban’s right. However dickish it may sound, he’s got a point

Saban is right but I agree if Tua was as hurt as he made it seem post LSU game with that limp and on Twitter, he should haven’t been in the game.

So much stupidity, don't even really know where to start.

He's probably right, but he shouldn't have said it at all. Now the SJW crowd such as yourself will come out in mass to defend Tua.

Why do y’all get so worked up over Saban?

You can't blame Saban for playing Tua if Tua was cleared to play and it was Tua's decision to play. You can blame Saban for putting an injured Tua in a 2 minute offense at the end of the half up 28 "for practice." Yeah, I get that it's good to practice a two minute offence in an actual game.
I won't say Saban is a terrible human being who gambled with Tua's career by taking an unnecessary risk with his star QB. I will say that Saban put "the process" ahead of Tua's future in the NFL but that's Saban.
I have my personal opinion of Saban's poor decision but I'll leave it at "Saban made a poor coaching decision." I truly hate to see any player hurt, especially an extremely talented QB about to capitalize on his talent.
I hope Tua makes a full recovery and this doesn't hurt his draft stock. The guy played like a champion in the second half of the LSU game. I have nothing but respect for Tua. Moreover, I hope he learns to weigh his health and financial final future against his coach's "process."

Sometimes Saban just needs to stfu
I’m not someone that’s constantly trying to bash him, but that’s certainly not a good look

Saban is full of BS. Not giving up on plays is what distinguish QBs. You wouldn't have a Brett Favre or John Elway if they gave up on plays.

Agreed

I understand what he’s trying to say. But I dont remember him having a problem, when Tua would scramble for his life, fighting off and breaking tackles, then chunk it down field for a positive play. Only a problem when it’s a negative. Can’t have it both ways

Tua holds the ball way too long, like Deshaun Watson

Does anyone else remember when the Great One was criticized at LSU for leaving starting QB Matt Mauck in during a blowout, calling a QB run, and having Mauck hurt his ankle and miss several games? I believe that was 2002.
Afterward the BR media and tigerroar.com, the predecessor to tigerdroppings, were on fire about it, a melt as you say.

It is true, Tua doesn't like to throw the ball away.
He will have to learn quick in the NFL.
