Pittman calling plays?

It was mentioned in one of the other threads during the Kentucky game that Pit Boss was seen working with Fromm and Swift on the sideline in the second half, roughly at the same juncture where we "rediscovered" the toss sweep.
It was mentioned here. Supposedly the announcers brought it up, too. There seemed to be some changes to the play-calling in the second half that coincided. Is some sort of quiet change afoot? Or, as was also pointed out, was this just the run game coordinator coordinating the run game? The fact that the fans weren't the only ones to take note was intriguing to me. Anyone have more insight?

I remember that as well but never heard anything else. You’d think if that was true it would’ve been news.

Agreed. I don’t necessarily expect Kirby or anyone in the program to make anything of it, though. Just curious if anyone else might have seen anything to suggest that there might be a change taking place. I don’t think anything would ever be discussed on the matter officially during the season.
That said, I don’t think Kirby has missed all that’s being said about our offensive woes, perceived or real.

Rusty Mansell said this was 100% false.
I don't remember where he addressed it, might have been on 24/7 or twitter.

Gotcha. Hadn’t seen that, but I’ll take your word for it. Now, if we come out sweepin’ in Jacksonville, I’m going to question what Rusty actually knows.

It wouldn't be hard to see since Pit Boss is on the sidelines.

Pittman is often seen during games working with the OL to make changes in their blocking scheme. Maybe he was informing the QB and RBs of a blocking change and how to take advantage of it.
Now, when I see Coley in the middle of the offense during a time out I will believe he is the one calling the plays instead of Smart.

Don't know what happened after the half but do know I read that 30 of our final 31 snaps on "O" were runs and 17 were outside the tackle box...

I noticed this as well (not sure how anyone could miss it). If this is Coley's doing.......why the sudden shift? It was a very clear change made from first half to second half.
ETA: Needless to say, I just hope we stick with it beginning in Jacksonville.

Never saw a single toss sweep in the Kentucky game. But we did run outside the tackles more.

You’re right. I just knew we were running outside versus the constant up the middle crap. I was headed back to my car when the scoring started, so only saw the highlights later. Thought I read there were some tosses, but I’m probably mistaken.

The first TD with Swift was an off tackle handoff.
The last Swift TD was a dive play out of (I believe) a single-back under center set.
Don’t remember the Herrien TD very well.

Handoff and Herrien went wide around the right side and dove for the pylon.
