LSU/Bama pass defenses faced minus LSU/Bama

It's been requested in pretty much every thread where it's been brought up how truly awful the pass defenses that LSU (and to be fair Bama too) have faced this year. By current rankings of FBS schools (excluding the FCS school LSU played) LSU's average pass defense faced ranks 115th, and bama' ranks 97th. So I subtracted the game each team has played against all of these opponents and recalculated, put the adjusted ypg game after removing the LSU or Bama games surrendered and where that would now rank them now, and how many spots up
LSU
GA Southern 238 ypg #81 up from #103
Texas 288.5 ypg #117 up from #126 lol
Vanderbilt 261 ypg #103 up from #118
Utah State 263.5 ypg #104 up from #114
Bama
Duke 175 ypg #13 up from #59
NM State 259.6 ypg #101 up from #104
SC 191 ypg #31 up from #96
So Miss 249.25 ypg #88 up from #108
Ole Miss 271.2 ypg #110 up from #119
So they new average FBS pass defense that each team faced after subtracting the stats from the game each team played against them:
LSU #101 up 14 spots
Bama #69 up 28 spots
Putting the adjusted pass defenses faced by both teams so far in order gives us
#13 Duke Bama
#31 SC Bama
#81 Ga Southern LSU
#88 So Miss Bama
#101 NM State Bama
#103 Vanderbilt LSU
#104 Utah State LSU
#110 Ole Miss Bama
#117 Texas LSU
Enjoy

LSU is going to beat Alabama this year. Deal with it.

Not bad analysis, luckily we will see how it all works out in November.

My 2nd favorite time of the football season is right now as LSU fans get their hopes up. My favorite time of football season will begin some time late on 11/9/19.

quote:well we will definitely know some more after this weekend. LSU faces the #18 ranked pass D and Bama faces the #31 ranked pass D. Both teams are really living off the passing game this year, so it will be interesting to see if either can be slowed down. From the numbers above it looks like bama has already faced one good pass D and another decent one, and neither could stifle us for long, so it's probably safe to say at this point we know with more certainty that Bama's pass game is elite

Ah, October. That magical time of year when the weather starts to cool off, the leaves begin to change colors, and LSU fans decide that “based on everything I’ve seen so far, this year we are definitely beating Bama. Book it.” The cycle of life.

None of that will matter come
November 9th.
November 9th.

So both are shite...got it.
I got an idea, do the same for passing offenses... let’s see which one is the shinier turd!

Still not accurate, as you only recalculated for 2 teams. Hence, waste of fking time. Let the season play out. Also, transitive property mfer

This is literally what multiple LSU fans kept asking for when the ranking of opposing pass defenses was brought up.
Now that it doesn't fit the narrative it is a "waste of time."
Well, at least now we know why Louisiana keeps electing the people they do to their state government.

This place is going to melt down after the Gators ride Saturday night.

Alabama’s current governor is in trouble for blackface. The one before her had to resign and was arrested...

I was watching College Football Nerds this morning, they have an algorithm that shows what the Defense is allowing percentage wise. LSU is allowing team 98% of their Passing Average per game. While any % under 100 is ok, you would defiantly like to hold teams well under their season average. At the same time LSU has allowed teams 68% of their yearly rushing average.

Got me thinking that StuckInThe80s would be way too kind for a Georgia fan since they haven't won since 1980 which is barely 80's.
