With the excaption of McCann, the only post-season failures in this team's mind are last year's NLDS.

We are fans. I would hope the team is not dwelling on our years of suffering.

All good man, and you’re right, the way we come to a crashing halt come post season in Atlanta sports is insanity.
What the hell do we have to do to end this championship drought? I get it, it’s the Cardinal playoff voodoo, but we are a much better team than them and keep finding ways to lose come playoff time. These veterans need to step up tomorrow.

Technically, ATL UTD did end the drought for most of us last season. I get it though, it's not UGA or Falcons or Braves.
Beggars can't be choosers though!
I'm a Bama alum and fan so thankfully they've carried me through the last decade or so. If not I would've died from a broken heart.

Just got the afternoon off tomorrow and bought a ticket. See yall at Suntrust

There is nothing objective to say the braves are “much better” than the cardinals. They look like a mirror image to me.

Yeah, I'm not sure the Braves are much better, either. The run differentials are about the same for both clubs. They have a better bullpen; we have a better offense. The starting pitching is probably even. And both teams play good defense.
Their record is worse than ours because they sleepwalked through the early part of the season and we slightly overachieved, but these teams are pretty even. They are both a grade below the "super-teams" like the Astros, Dodgers, and Yankees.

Nice. I was hoping for 8:00 and I was going to grab a couple tickets. After last Thursday, Friday and yesterday, I just can't swing another half day of not getting shite done. This division series schedule has pretty much sucked.
Anyway, calling it now - Freeman finds and destroys whatever voodoo doll someone has that has stolen his baseball power and comes up big in Game 5.

Yeah I’m only taking off an hour n a half early so not too bad. I stayed yesterday and watched till 4 then zoomed to the bar so I’ve only missed a day and a half so far plus hour half tomorrow

i enjoy the atlanta United product and have become a pretty big fan, but that championship was pretty empty for me last year other than the excitement in the moment. I don't even think about it anymore.
I've spent 30 years watching the Braves and the emotional attachment was developed over time. it's just different for me.

Yeah United was fun for 10 min honestly. And I go to 5-8 matches a year. After that it was just whatever.
Definitely no where near what I felt from Auburn in 2010. Hell I probably had more excitement at game 2 and watching game 3

The worst thing about a sports broken heart is that you never actually die. You just keep tuning in next time for another dose.

I wouldn't have made it through the SB51/17NC sequence alive. I have a lot of respect for the resiliency of a lot of our Dawg/Birds fans out there.

It's amazing what a little self-deprecating humor can do for the soul.
That said, you can say SB 51 or 17NC separately, but never put them together. My BDSM day is reserved for Mondays.

Absolutely ZERO work is getting done today. God bless I am ready to be at the park.
Posted on 10/9/19 at 10:18 am to auzach91
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but whenever I'm at the park for a big game, I always wonder who the crowd noise impacts more - pitchers or batters. I have to think that crowd noise can speed up heart rate for players but I never know if there is a net benefit for the batter or pitcher when the crowd is going crazy. Maybe it just really depends on the individual player? Maybe the home player positively feeds off it whether they are batting or pitching and the opposite happens to the road player? Maybe it doesn't mean shite.
I just know in football and a lot of other sports there seems to be a clear time to get loud (help your defense in football, rattle opponent when shooting a free throw etc). The Suntrust park will be going nuts when our pitcher has 2 outs and 2 strikes on the batter. Then we will also be going nuts when our batter has runners in scoring position. Sometimes when I'm screaming my head off for our pitcher and then he throws one wild I can't help but think - is the crowd noise speeding him up/messing with mechanics, etc? And when I'm screaming for our batter and he swings at a terrible pitch I can't help thinking - is the crowd noise causing him to press, expand his strike zone?

I think I am a curse upon the team so I won't be watching today. We are 0-2 in games I have watched. Hoping for the best.

Folty was definitely feeding off of it in game 2 I know that. Hopefully he channels that again today and doesnt get in his head over it being a must win.
But then again- game 2 was a must win.
