This series basically boils down to their #3-4 hitters absolutely torching us while our #3-4 hitters have done mostly nothing. Very tough to win when that's the case. Yet, we ARE still tied with a chance to win it all at home.
Where the hell did the power go? Almost all of our deep flyballs this series have seemed to die right around the warning track.

Also, what in the frick was the plan for Fried this series? Guy is arguably our second best pitcher and he's only appeared in 3 separate 1 inning relief outings. Why? Sure would have been nice having him start a game 4 today instead of Keuchel on short rest.

He’ll be in the rotation if we advanced I’d have to believe. Just have to get past jack Flaherty first.

To start game 4 until Chris Martin pulled his oblique. That wrapped up and put a bow on any ideas of him starting. The reason he was pushed off and then scratched from any of those ideas was because his RHH splits if he's seeing the time more than twice is garbage and he is another of the multiple guys for the Braves that can't go third time through without damage most of the time.
(I can't explain Keuchel outside of wanting to gamble with Soroka on the road, which they did win on, and it probably should have won the series)
Yeah in a long season, more innings is more valuable, but if you put it in the perspective of the playoffs, you see guys with big stuff that start in the regular season relieve plenty then, then you'd likely have been seeing a lot more High Leverage Luke if you don't abandon the idea of Fried starting because with a RHH heavy lineup, the idea of choosing Newcomb to be the "7th Inning Guy" was not happening, and your other choices are not that soothing for that spot.

Probably wouldn't be unless you magically give Chris Martin a new oblique and figure out a way to get him on the roster.

I think you'd prefer 4 but we're getting further and further away from when Fried did even close to a traditional start so he probably is a non-option.
Or, to better put it, he'd be a 2nd window dressing to having bullpen game starters if anything.
So...yeah, you're pretty fricked either way unless it is managed well. You have 2 guys that can reliably go 6+ if they have something and otherwise have problems.

I was totally cool with tricking myself into not caring and being busy come game 5. I keep reading and I keep getting more and more pissed. To the point where i have bought a ticket to game 5. This is jedi level masochism

Not excited about having to get through Flaherty again. Folty has his best game of the year in the last matchup which means that was an outlier. Can’t afford for him to regress to the mean against the best pitcher in baseball the past two months in game 5 to move onto the NLCS.
Yikes. I just wish for once an ATL team could just step on someone’s neck. It would be such an Atlanta thing to lose this game 5 at home.

Keep your schedule open during NLCS time. The Braves will have home field if the Nationals win but be the road team if the Dodgers win.

It's really sad that I hope the bottom half of our order can get up to bat when we finally get guys into scoring position.

Another thing about Flaherty's numbers over the last 2 months of the regular season: half of his starts were against teams out of the playoff hunt. Against the Brewers, Cubs, and Dodgers he went 2-2 with 2 no decisions over that time.
Let's stop acting like the Braves didn't just win the NL East when every other team in the division sans the Marlins were supposedly loaded with talent.
The Braves went 18-15 against playoff teams this year in the regular season.
The Cardinals went 22-24 against this season's playoff teams.
I swear UGA and the Falcons have given many of you PTSD.
