Will Kirby ever win a natty at Georgia?

I don't think Kirby can win one while Saban is still in the league. But, even after Saban retires, I'm not convinced that Kirby can win a natty at UGA. It's not exactly a program that has a history of winning championships.
Thoughts? Opinions? Upvotes?
BTW, frick Georgia, and I hope Uga X gets Malaria during a road game this year.

I would answer your question but you're a clear alter and
leads me to believe you don't really actually care what anyone says

I think he will. Only because Saban won't be at Bama after another year or two (I'm leaning towards 2020 being his last). But, if Saban's there, it ain't happening. I'll believe it when I see it.

Obviously, the task will be much, much easier when saban is gone.

I think the last 2 years shoudl show that it's not inconceivable. Pretty mcuh all of america gets shellakced by saban except for UGA with kirby. Even clemson in 2017 got beatdown by bama and didn't even belong on the field with them. The last 2 meetings we've more than held our own, just coudln't find a way to close it out in crunch time. With our ever increasing talent on the roster, and the natural progression of kirby learning to be a HC, I don't think it's crazy to suggest we could beat saban at some point.
And honestly saban is the only real road block that worries me in regards to a title. clemson, osu, ou...meh. Those teams don't really strike fear. The year that we beat bama in the SECCG, whenever that may be, is when we'll win the natty.

Maybe. He still has to beat the other teams that make the playoffs. But after Bama dies off he might luck into drawing ND and someone they can handle once in his career. Plus UGA will keep him forever if he wins the East every year. Richt got a pass for a long time. Unless he jumps for the NFL in the next few years.

Nope but that will not keep the cocky Georgia fans from acting like they have won a recent national championship .

Yep. The fact that he got there in year 2, was one quarter away from the playoffs in year 3 and has top 3 recruiting classes is a clear sign that a 43 year old in his 4th year as a head coach cannot win a natty. Guess Lincoln Riley and Tom Herman can't win one either.

No surprise UF & Auburn fan responses all over page 1. Will Kirby ever win a natty? Maybe, maybe not. Will he continue to own UF & Auburn indefinitely? Absolutely.

imagine firing someone who plays for the SEC championship every year. Why wouldn't we keep him around for a while for that?

Richt got a pass for a long time.
Richt didn't get near as much of a lifetime free pass as some people want to think.
02-07: extremely good, several titles. One down year in 06
08-10: underachieving some to downright bad. Richt was told after 2010 to win 10 games and/or the east or he was going to be fired
11: did both of the above to build back momentum
12: a c-hair away from beign national champs
13: beat two teams ranked in the top 6 in the country in september before injuries derailed the entire season
14: won 10 games but was overall a disappointment
15: fired after another mediocre season

Problem is I don't think anyone knows how long Saban will last, and I think that actually includes Saban himself.
Georgia fans will be patient with Kirby. They're not used to winning nattys so they'll be no movement to fire him as long as he wins at Richt's level with the occasional playoff appearance.
For the guy calling me an alter, go ahead and report my post. Have them check my IP. I only have one account and it's this one. Dogs can't even get Malaria -- that's the whole joke. You'd know that if you had gotten in at your dream school (Georgia Tech) instead of having to settle for a lower-tier school.

I don't know about that.
Kirby came close to beating Saban twice.
It's entirely possible and plausible that he could run the table in the CFP one year and maybe even get lucky and not have to play Bama at all that year.

History has little to do with it. What matters today is the players they have now, how well they play (and are coached) and the competition they play. I think UGA's big challenge this year is their schedule. 4 top 15 teams as of now. If they survive that gauntlet and look convincing, then absolutely they will be a contender. I'll wait to see how the regular season unfolds.

I'd love to see some evidence of any of our fans pretending we've won a national title recently. Do you have any you can show us?

We don't act like we won a recent national championship. We only act like we have drubbed UF for two straight years. There is a difference.

Yep. The fact that he got there in year 2

If Gene Chizik can win one, anybody can win one.

When did Gene Chizik win his natty again? So, yeah, might want to realize that prior results early in a career do not guarantee future success.
