Miami fans attacked UF band after game, beat up the director.

Saturday night was the start of college football season and after a great game between the University of Florida Gators and the Miami Hurricanes the ugly side of college athletics reared it's ugly head.
According to multiple sources the University of Florida Gator Band was in their parade order marching to their buses after the game outside of the stadium when a group of University of Miami fans tried to push their way into the band block. The Director of the Gator Band, Dr. Jay Watkins, saw the group and ran towards them to help stop the altercation.
The Miami fans then attacked Dr. Watkins placing him in a choke hold and slamming his head to the concrete. A member of the band reportedly was punched in the face and had a bloody nose.
Dr. Watkins saved multiple members from worse injuries by stepping in to stop these fans and in turn put himself in harms way.
This type of behavior directed towards bands is truly unacceptable and unfortunately it happens too often.
We wish the Gator Band and Dr. Watkins a quick recovery.

Reminds of the time AU tried to assault our band, only our band kicked their asses.
This stuff really is unnecessary and the definition of letting a game dictate your life.

Well that's taking a football rivalry too far.
I guess it's good the band didn't fight back. Would be incredibly unfair since we all know Miami can't block.

Reminds me of 2007 when some UGA fans got into it with the South Carolina band after SC won the game in Athens. I remember a full beer can being thrown and a scuffle with a sousaphone player.

Exactly what I would expect from Miami. Hood on the sidelines and hood after the game. Way to perpetuate the what the country knows about your program, it's low rent!!

I'm sure Florida band was completely innocent during this too...
