Do you root for a “minor league” team outside the major confs?

I’ve gotten pretty fond of pulling for ODU and UT-Austin. I played both of them a few years ago in NCAA14 and kind of feel for the plucky guys. The only thing that bothers me is that for ODU, you don’t get to play in the new stadium.

What non-SEC teams do you follow?

I have a friend who is a GA on Mercer's football team, so I follow them and catch a game when I can.

ODU is a good one. The win over Vtech was amazing. Felt like something youd pull of in NCAA 14.

But for me, I find myself rooting for Hawaii.

Hmm. "Minor league".

Army. Which feels odd. They have multiple National Titles and Heisman Trophy winners after all, they certainly aren't close to being a P5 team but are they really minor league?.

I'll happily watch an App. State or Georgia Southern game. The same for North Dakota State.

Some of my extended family through marriage live in Hawaii. I could root for them if the family there cared for the school at all. They’re all ivy grads though

I’d say any conference or team outside of the big four (SEC, B10, ACC, PAC) and ND is minor league. Army certainly has a great history, but so do other teams that play in the minors now.

It's only because in 07, they were undefeated and I remember a talking head saying they should be in the BCS. Fun little side team to follow

SMU, both sisters and my brother went there. Brother actually played basketball against Corliss and the Hogs.

I’d feel the same way if I didn’t do a stint in the army. when you have to put up with West pointers it changes your perspective. They think of themselves as a military Ivy.

Have you gotten to go to any games? I’ve been to a few minor league games here in Texas, but the atmosphere was a little disappointing. Still fun though.

Georgia Southern. Vanderbilt if you don’t consider it a P5 school.

Yes, my local team. I hired a couple of kids who play for Alabama a&m, but they are back at practice/school now. They are good guys and will hire them again if they wish in the future. I'll go watch them play some this year. Oh and I have known some guys that play for UNA(North Alabama), and I like to pull for them too.
