damn. Well, it'll give Harris and Robinson more time to show out. Sucks for Trey though

I was wondering if anybody noticed this besides me . We have had several players like Mack, Womack, Diggs, , and others and now Sanders get foot injuries the last few years . Never hear of that many with other schools it seems

Report: Alabama RB Trey Sanders to miss season with injury (BamaOnLine)
quote:

Alabama freshman running back Trey Sanders will reportedly miss the 2019 season with an injury.

Sanders, a former 5-star, suffered a significant foot injury on the final play of the Crimson Tide’s preseason practice Thursday night and is expected to miss the entire season, according to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz. Sanders was not on the field during the two media viewing periods of practice Friday.

Prior to the injury, Sanders had been fourth in the running back line behind Najee Harris, Brian Robinson and Jerome Ford. During last week’s open practice, he split third-team reps with Ford.

Known for saying he will win the Heisman Trophy as a true freshman, Sanders arrived at UA with a lot of expectations surrounding him. After all, he was the No. 6 overall recruit during the 2019 cycle and the No. 1 running back, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

“Trey Sanders is doing really, really well in camp,” said Nick Saban during a post-practice press conference on Wednesday. “His work ethic is really good. He’s learning every day. His attention to detail seems to be pretty good. He’s got some ability that may be able to contribute to the team.”

Also missing from Friday’s practice were defensive linemen LaBryan Ray (ankle) and DJ Dale (knee) and cornerbacks Nigel Knott and Brandon Turnage. Turnage was spotted inside the team facility prior to Friday’s camp practice and was wearing a black, contact jersey and a walking boot.

Alabama will hold its first of two preseason scrimmages this afternoon at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Sucks but it happens. Saban practices these guys hard. Our practice is rougher than live games and you can't keep your backfield away from contact in fall camp. We are still loaded with Najee and Brian. Jerome Ford and Keiland Robinson will be nice, change of pace backs. I won't lose any sleep unless we start dropping linebackers or interior DLinemen.

Chadarius should now be back at RB.

Ford should be a solid #3 RB, but it does seem fairly likely Townsend could move to RB since Keilan Robinson isn't quite back to 100% yet. Bolden could be another option to get reps at RB if needed.

ETA: After what Saban said about today's scrimmage, it sounds like Keilan's speed and elusiveness are back to normal -- excellent.

Seriously, WTF? If this were to be the only season ending injury, I think we'd be Ok, but it just seems like it's deja vu all over again.

Not worried. Good depth at the position, red shirt for Sanders

What makes you say this? Last I read, Bama does not even tackle to the ground in practice.

Agreed. Sanders would be a day 1 starter anywhere else and this would devastate another team.

Any idea of the exact injury? Glad its not a knee

Long as Harris & Robinson stay healthy were fine. Losing either 1 would be a major dent at the position.

Contact isn't the only thing tough on the human body during in a football practice in Alabama during August. I did mention contact though, meaning I did assume it was a contact injury.
