Looking more and more Georgia-Florida game will move out of Jacksonville

This game is one of America's most iconic rivalries, one that's been held in Jax since 1933.
The Dawgs have historically owned the series. In 1990, the series stood at 44-22-2, Georgia. By the 1990's, Florida fans were falling all over themselves desperately wanting to get the game moved to home and home. When Spurrier became the Gators coach, he changed the tide against the Dawgs then and those feelings began to subside. But, even though the past 20 years haven't been that kind to Dawgs fans, however, Dawgs fans have still pretty much wanted the game to remain in Jax.
Now, it's all changed. The college game, its parameters, its economics and such have all changed. Now, it looks like both sides seem to want to have the game moved to each others campuses.
Even Steve Spurrier is now on board agreeing that it may be time to move the game.
Tradition be damned. Sad.

This particular game contradicts my line of thinking regarding neutral sites.
I am generally FOR home and home. It allows for a more collegiate atmosphere.
This would be a shame if it were moved

Meaning the best neutral site game in the SEC would be A&M-Arkansas
Yay?
Yay?

Fans got over the Iron Bowl leaving Legion field pretty fast. Of course, the cocktail party isn't played in a dump.

Sad, but waiting for all reactions of the UGA fans who bitched about moving the date of the DSOR...

They should end the Bama-Tennessee game before they movie this game out of Jacksonville.
The wlocp is one of the most unique rivalries in the country precisely because of where it is played.

And both schools have expressed interest in going back to a traditional home and away series... we just want to somehow keep a game in the Dallas area for recruiting.

Wishful thinking for Georgia fans, not gonna happen. The game belongs in Jacksonville.

Anyone bitching about the location needs to understand the stadium is literally split 50/50 for fan seats.
Its not going anywhere, no matter how much Smart wants it.
They actually didn't quote Spurrier fully, who just earlier this week said the game should stay in Jacksonville

Smart move. Georgia and Florida are at a major disadvantage having one fewer home game every other year than the rest of the teams in the conference. It should have been done years ago.

I would be furious if this game gets moved. Any Georgia fan who wants it moved needs a lobotomy.

I don't think Kirby really wants it moved. I think he's posturing for more money from Jacksonville, and this city will move heaven and earth to keep the game.

A small clamoring of fans does not equate to an entire fanbase.
This is overexaggerating at its finest. I grew up in South Georgia, and lived there for 15 years. I can tell you NO UGA fan I met growing up had any problem with the game being in Jacksonville, and loved that weekend every year.

UGA is trying to get more money out of the city of Jacksonville.
Spurrier said that so someone could bring up the last time UF did a home and home with UGA. "Half a hundred"

The article did state that UGA didnt care about the money. They wanted an easier path to a championship and an extra recruiting weekend

What does one have to do with the other?
Neither should be moved but where a game is played is much different the date of the game.

Meh. I got my 4 years of partying in St. Simons and bussing down for the game.
I would only hate it for the students who would get to miss out on what is the best 3-4 day weekend in the fall.
But there is something to be said for having the opportunity to go down and see UF's campus and their stadium. The only thing that would bring me there would be a UGA football game. Other than that I would never have the opportunity to see Gainesville.

The article says they are wanting to do it to make it easier for them... And location definitely matters, saying otherwise is a lie and hypocrisy
