If there is a tie for 12th place? Current standings at the bottom:
7-21 Alabama
7-21 Kentucky
7-21 South Carolina
What are the tie-breaker scenarios?

What are the tie-breaker scenarios?

I’ve been told there’s pretty much no way we win a. 3 way

I would imagine Bama has played the toughest schedule since they are in the West.... so I think it ought to be them... however I know that's not the tie-breaker.

Alabama holds the tie-breaker over South Carolina, having won the series against them.
No idea what it what be in the event of a tie with Kentucky. We have a higher RPI and actual winning record though.
Alabama is 30-24 (7-21) RPI 39
Kentucky is 26-27 (7-21) RPI 45

Bama has the head to head over us and we have the head to head over Kentucky. That’s about all I know. Just let this season end

Three-Team Tie (or more): When three or more teams are tied for a finish, the following procedure will be used (in descending order until the tie is broken): Once the tie has been reduced to two teams, the two-team tiebreaker procedure as stated in No. 1 above will be used.
A. If all three teams are common opponents: Total won-lost percentage of games played among the tied teams.
B. Won-lost percentage of the tied teams versus the No. 1 seed and proceeding through the No. 8 seed, if necessary, using common opponents only.
C. If three or more teams still are tied, the Commissioner will conduct a draw.

quote:if all 3 get swept final weekend and finish with 7 SEC wins, Kentucky goes because of a better (1-2) common record vs UGA than USC/ALA (0-3).
7-21 Alabama
7-21 Kentucky
7-21 South Carolina
(1)Vanderbilt swept all 3 schools so the tie-breaker goes to the next highest seed - but (2)Arkansas & (3)Miss St only played a mix of 2 of the 3 schools so a 3-way tie is solved by records vs (4)Georgia - who played all 3.
Posted on 5/17/19 at 9:20 am to 1801
So Kentucky goes if all three are tied at 7-23 or 8-22.

If that eliminates 1 team, then the other 2 go back to the top seed and start the comparison over again? That's the way I read it

quote:correct - in any 3-way tie - Kentucky goes to Hoover.
So Kentucky goes if all three are tied at 7-23 or 8-22.

Nope. They did not all play each other...

#1 Vanderbilt- All 3 were swept by the Commodores
#2 Arkansas- South Carolina did not play, so skip over them
#3 Mississippi St.- Kentucky did not play them, so skip over them
#4 Georgia- Bama is playing UGA now (trail series 0-1). S. Carolina was swept. Kentucky was 1-2 against Georgia.
So if Kentucky, South Carolina, and Alabama all go 0-3 this weekend, Kentucky wins the tie-breaker?

So if the Tournament started today...
#1 Vanderbilt
#2 Arkansas
#3 Mississippi St.
#4 Georgia
------
#5 LSU
#6 Ole Miss
#7 Texas A&M
#8 Missouri
#9 Auburn
#10 Tennessee
#11 Florida
#12 Kentucky
OUT: Alabama and South Carolina
#1 Vanderbilt
#2 Arkansas
#3 Mississippi St.
#4 Georgia

#5 LSU
#6 Ole Miss
#7 Texas A&M
#8 Missouri
#9 Auburn
#10 Tennessee
#11 Florida
#12 Kentucky
OUT: Alabama and South Carolina

it does go back to the two-team tiebreaker. because UK/ALA didn't play H2H this season and are in different divisions - their tie is also solved by series record vs
(1)Vanderbilt - who swept both ...
(2) Arkansas who took 2 of 3 from both -
(3) Miss State - who only played ALA
(4) Georgia - who Kentucky took 1 of 3 and ALA went 0-3 (still TBD this weekend)
UK/ALA tie still oddly falls to Georgia series.

Not sure how this:
quote:

Works with this:
quote:
A. If all three teams are common opponents: Total won-lost percentage of games played among the tied teams.
All 3 teams did not play each other (Alabama never played Kentucky); however, Alabama is 2-1 vs South Carolina and South Carolina is 2-1 vs Kentucky. That might equate to:
.667 win % for Alabama
.500 win % for South Carolina
.333 win % for Kentucky
In that scenario, Alabama gets in.
If NOT, then vs Vanderbilt:
Alabama 0-3
South Carolina 0-3
Kentucky 0-1 with two games remaining
Current #2 team Arkansas (skipped because USC did not play them):
Alabama 1-2
South Carolina - DNP
Kentucky 1-2
Current #3 team Miss State (I guess - skipped):
Alabama 0-3
South Carolina 0-1 (currently)
Kentucky - DNP
Current #4 team Georgia:
Alabama 0-1 (currently)
South Carolina 0-3
Kentucky 1-2
#5 Seed LSU(?)
Alabama 1-2
South Carolina DNP
Kentucky 0-3
So if Rule #1 doesn't apply, then it depends:
If Kentucky gets 1 win vs Vandy, they go
If Vandy sweeps Kentucky, then...
If Georgia:
Sweeps Alabama, Kentucky goes
Loses 1 to Alabama, tie breaker moves to Arkansas set, then UGA set, then... LSU? If so, Alabama goes.
Loses 2 or more to Alabama: Alabama goes
Presuming seeds remain where they are.
At least, that's how it looks to me.

If one team wins a three-way tiebreaker outright (eliminating the other two teams), there is no need to revert back to two-way tiebreakers.

This...
The only reason it would go beyond the UGA matchups would be if Alabama wins exactly 1 this weekend and Kentucky wins exactly 1 this weekend as well, with USC winning 1 or less.
*presuming all teams were still tied at the end of the weekend* If Alabama wins 2 this weekend, they win outright. If they get swept, Kentucky wins the tie break outright.
If, however, Alabama wins 1, then both UK and Alabama would have a 1-2 series record against UGA, and it would go to the next seed if I understand correctly. South Carolina we swept, so they will lose any ties. They would need to win 1 more than either/both of Bama/Kentucky to go to the tournament.

all three teams are playing better than Ole Miss, I wouldn't have a problem with my team calling it a season and 2 of those squads go. we are done.

They need to let them all in or trim the field.
