Actually that was Sam's neice. Bud's granddaughter was who it was going to be named after, I believe.
You might notice that the Razorbacks play in Bud Walton Arena. That was built 25 years ago, though.
Anyhooo....the Waltons are third generation billionaires now, and don't seem to give a frick about sports all that much. They invest in real estate redevelopment, buy and build mountain biking parks and invest heavily in the arts.
Walmart sponsors a few things here and there as an advertiser, but that's about it.
For now, we'll have to settle for things like $120 million endowments to the School of Art, etc.
