To be considered relatively successful and assure himself of a decade of employment he just needs to come in at least 3rd in the West about 75% of the time and beat Bama once every 7-10 years in football.

I doubt he'll call a single play, score a single point, or convince a single recruit to come to LSU

Thanks to teams like aTm also being in the West, this goal is easily attainable just about every year.
