I always why we take guys like Seth early. Just always seems like a numbers issue at the end every year.

His offer list is really good
As soon as he hits the camp circuit and clarify a spot for him, I could see him getting a boost.

Meh. Saban learned his lesson 2 years ago. This is no risk to us, if he blossoms on the camp circuit and has a great senior season, everyone will be after him and we now have the inside track. If not, we can slow play him, start talking about a gray shirt, and he'll end up singing with someone like GT or WF and we fill his spot with a more talented player. Seems like a win win strategy in my book.

Seth will be a solid 4* player before the early signing period. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t end up top 150. Very underrated and Bama’s oline coach has Seth in the top five guard/center prospects. But in general your point in well taken.

Georgia Tech had a player pass away this weekend and they happened to get a commitment as well. Brent Key posted this

He's going to hear about this, from all over.He does not realize how insensitive and self serving that sounds.

Also, looks like he could be Andy Samberg's little brother
That is the first thing that I thought of when I saw the picture of Hunt.

Ouch. He clearly didn't think that one through before posting it.

Hunt breaks down decision to join Alabama (BamaOnLine)
quote:
Alabama may have found a hidden gem in the 2019 signing class with Richard Hunt. The 6-foot-7, 250-pound tight end from Memphis (TN) Briarcrest Christian committed to the Crimson Tide Sunday evening on a preferred walk-on offer, choosing Bama over other preferred walk-on offers from Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and LSU.
The interest sparked between the two parties after Nick Saban stopped in at Briarcrest during the Contact Period to see underclassmen and was introduced to Hunt. Shortly thereafter Alabama extended an offer.
Hunt was still playing basketball at the time and couldn’t make it down to Tuscaloosa until this past weekend. It didn’t take long for him to come to his decision once on campus. “It feels wonderful,” Hunt told BamaOnLine of coming to his decision.

“Just sitting down talking with Coach Saban and him telling me the opportunity,” Hunt said of his decision to commit. “Of course he’s one of the greatest coaches ever, if not the greatest coach. The way he runs things is just ridiculous. It just made me decide on Alabama.”
With several walk-on offers out there, Hunt says his finalists came down to Alabama, Arkansas and Tennessee. It was the need at tight end in Tuscaloosa that really piqued his interest. “That’s what really pushed me over — my actual opportunity to play at Alabama,” he said.
Another interesting tidbit when it comes to Hunt is that 2018 was his first year ever playing football. “A couple of my buddies, Jackson Walker — our quarterback — and Carson Brewer, they just kept trying to convince me to come out,” Hunt said. “I finally just went out and started throwing with Jackson and fell in love with it. So I just stuck with it.”
The sky’s the limit for the up-and-coming tight end. Hunt is excited to get to campus this summer and begin his journey. “Just actually developing as a football player,” Hunt said of what he’s looking forward to most. “I think I have a long way to go this being my first year. (I’m looking forward to) Developing with the best, playing against the best and working hard.”
