Over the 4 year span, right? You can change the years to make either argument.

Everyone knows this is a totally normal and absolutely not cherry-picked measurement.

The thing is even if we use that 4 year metric. We are 4th or 5th in tournament wins over that stretch. I care more about that personally than just SEC wins.

You can’t honestly believe we’re the 2nd best team in the SEC?

Do you also believe that Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are real?

Or that alligators are ornery because they got all them teeth and no toothbrush?

I do honestly believe that Arkansas has more SEC wins over the last 4 years than any team in the SEC aside from Kentucky. Because those are the facts.

The last 4 years is also the perfect measurement to use because it represents the second half of Anderson's tenure to date. It's good for establishing a trajectory. We started off not so good, we have gotten better. By a "significant" margin too, I might add.

Sure, you can say that we haven't done as well as anyone would have liked in the tournament, but he WAS robbed of that elusive Sweet Sixteen everyone likes to throw about as some measuring stick he hasn't lived up to, which, IMO, is more dishonesty. But I digress.

Is Arkansas the second best team in the SEC this year? Eh. Probably not. But as I said in the other thread, that game tonight with "the best" could have been a lot closer than it was.

I wanna see how the year plays out. With a bit of luck, they'll start their back 9 streak early.

I also look at ALL sports from the standpoint that you need to win your conference first and foremost.

I give the exact same criticism to Dave Van Horn. I want to see another conference title in baseball. Post season stuff is great, but I believe the teams that win their conference or at least finish in the running each year, are more likely to win national titles than teams that do not.

Did Oregon State win the PAC 12 this past season in baseball? I bet they did.

Only Alabama wins a title without winning their conference.

After this year, it will be 3 years in a row winning less games than the year prior. Nice trajectory.

That's because you don't follow baseball and have said as much. No one gives a shite about conference when the national tournament is so long.

All sports means all sports, Drewbie. It's a philosophical thing. You build a team that can compete with, and defeat, your immediate peers.

Now, if Arkansas ever fields a team that wins a national title but didn't win it's conference, I'll eat all the crow you wanna serve, but from where I sit, a program's health is better served by a team that can win conference titles than by one they hope will catch lightning in a bottle and win a national title despite not winning their conference.

I ask again...Did Oregon State win the PAC 12 in baseball last season? Betcha they did. I'd bet 100 dollars on it. And as you said, I don't follow baseball.

They are the facts like you love to say. Is there more context there? Of course, in the same way there is more context in the 2nd best record in the league over that span. That is a fact but is also missing context.

This is also coming from someone who does believe, in general, the tournament is a crapshoot. I'm more concerned with the rate he makes it in than anything else at the moment. I know you believed that this team was NCAA bound not very long ago. I think you will agree now that it is very unlikely. If that is the case, 3 out of 5 is not enough imo.

Exactly. Makes way more sense to keep your rotation as it has been and mitigate risk of any injury by potentially resting guys rather than go all in for a meaningless conference title. CWS is what it’s all about. As it should be with March Madness for basketball

I'll do what I've done the last 3 years. Curse MA and call for his head bc there is not a chance in the fricking world he makes the dance. He has proven me wrong twice now but I am confident he won't do it a 3rd time. There is absolutely no chance Arkansas is making the dance this year.

For real?

What the frick.

Still yet, that is an outlier, not the norm. Program health is directly related to conference standings. Maybe not in baseball if you guys say there is some next level strategery in play there, but certainly in both football and basketball.
