Thoughts from being at game

- Weather was horrible days before. Game day however was perfect football weather.
- Thank you too all those very nice Californians who put on a great event. Not your fault the weather was horrible.
- The mass transit system in NorCal is mighty impressive. Used Caltrain and Vta light rail. Very pleasant.
- San Francisco is a beautiful old town. If you need a job in the remodeling business / renovation NorCal is your spot. Real estate prices are astronomical.
- went by Fairmont, headquarters for the CFP. Really cool to sit and pretend your somebody important.
_ overall I give San Jose / Santa Clara a solid 8 for effort. I’d go back again for what’s its worth.
Now, the game. I have never been so let down by a Bama team. My thoughts were this.
1. Bama did not have the energy Clemson had. It was evident to me.
2. Bama did very poor job making adjustments ( that’s obvious but I can’t figure out why)
3. Trevor Lawrence is scary good. NFL No. 1 pick. Heisman contender.
4. No Blitzing by Bama. Why did they not send the whole house, even if they scored. TL NEVER felt fear from Bama’s D. I think very poor coaching here.
5. Very POOR coaching by Alabama. Heads should roll. Not literally.
6. We are slow of foot in the secondary. Could not believe how much quicker Clemson receivers.
7. Dabo proved who is the better Coach. By the time Dabo reaches 67, he will have twice as many as Ole Nick.
8. It’s time for Saban to gracefully exit. His process isn’t working anymore. Dabo has fun, Saban should give that a try.
9. Mucho Congratulations too all Clemson fans. You have an awesome team. Enjoy!
10. For all you Bama haters, yes, it’s a bitter day. I’ll take my lumps with class and say we got whipped in all facets of the game. Clemson is the new Dynasty in College Football. However, for the rest of you wanna be champions, don’t think Bama’s day is over. We’ll be back!!
Roll Tide.

Thanks for sharing and classy post.
Bama will be back next year, and Clemson's D won't be quite as stout up front. Failure is a powerful motivator.

Agree - the Gameday experience was really good. They did a damn good job given all the whining and handwringing. Easy in and out, no issues at gates like Tampa and Atlanta, stadium and field conditions seemed great.
The trip for us was great minus the ballgame and the weather the day before. Really fun and unique trip.

Did you stay in SF or SJ? Is there anything around the stadium?

We flew into LAX Friday night, got there around 5 PM. Drove to Santa Barbara for the night. Woke up early Saturday and drove the Pacific Coast Hwy to San Fransisco. Satueday night and all day Sunday in San Fransisco. Woke up Monday and drove down and stopped and wandered around Stanford and got to the stadium around 3 PM. Then drove to Sacramento after the game and slept for a few hours in the airport before a 6 AM flight back.
Game sucked but trip was really cool. The Pacific Coast Hwy is just incredible.
The stadium is in Santa Clara/San Jose, so it's a metro area. However right around the stadium is kind of suburban office park like. Nothing much really.

Wrong. Dumb statement.

Are you serious?

With all respect, you would have to win something too know what Melt means. I’m showing respect for a great football team from Clemson. You better start getting ready for November. We’ll talk about your melt come November 2019.

This is one of the areas where Alabama coaches and players lost confidence very quickly. The Clemson running backs picked up blitzes efficiently and the Clemson quarterback adjusted quickly to the blitz. Alabama tried to bring extra rushers at times throughout the game but the ball was out to quickly, resulting in thinner pass coverage and open short throws.
Clemson disguised its blitzes better and Tua couldn’t consistently figure out where the pressure was coming from. Alabama backs didn’t pick up blitzes much at all.
It wasn’t that Alabama didn’t blitz, it just wasn’t effective. And that was one of the things that may have contributed to them being freaked out by halftime.

Come on friend, did you go to the game?

Damn, that sounds like a really cool trip. I can't imagine how gorgeous the Pac Coast Hwy was. You saw a lot. Glad you had a good trip.
What would you say the breakdown of fans was
Bama %/Clemson %?

Respectfully, Alabama knows how to blitz. Yes, Clemson did an outstanding job protecting Lawrence.. However, I’ve seen Bama all out Blitz and I did not see that level of effort.

Time for him to exit? You can't be serious. Exit for who??? He's the goat in current times. You can't replace the best coach with someone better at this moment.
