Ahh... now I get why people weren't excited. Good call, everyone, arse fricks included.
Reminder not to drink and post, kids.
I'll go back to watching the fly ball and Steornover on repeat on a black and white projector in a pitch black room with every album from Tool playing. That at least stymies any chance of feeling hope while getting to the same result.

Don't add the Texas 4th down conversion in the Big Shootout though. Some things are too traumatic to view on a regular basis.

We are the sports program that falls into a barrel of titties, and comes out with a pecker stuck in her mouth.

Please add the Reggie Fish frick up also for shits and giggles.

Reggie Fish
You know, I never blamed Fish. That's one hundred percent Hooter. Fish had not played a meaningful snap all year (ever really) and Hootie puts him in to field a punt in a crucial part of the game. That's bad management, and honestly, I could be wrong, but I bet I could count on one hand how many punts Fish fielded before then.
Hooter did the same shite with LSU. We were in control of the game, Jones and McFadden were laying pipe on Les, 4 strait passes and a loss.
Nutt's ego was so big that he took huge mind boggling (stupid) risks, so that in case it panned out, everyone would talk about how much of a "genius" he is. And he was addicted to it. "I called that play Chuck"
That's the curse (and sickness) of a true narcissist, you do things like not game plan for Wisky, or not make halftime adjustments, or not trust overwhelming odds, because you think you know better.
So I give Fish some slack; he had no business playing in that game or D1 for that matter.

Nutt was fascinating to watch in action. Much like a fiery car wreck is fascinating. You have to wonder what went on in his head at times.
"Hmm, Matt Jones just went for 75 yards untouched on that read option play... I'd better not call that again this game!"
"We're trailing by 2 TDs late in the game... no one will suspect me to call three straight half back dives!"
"Late in the game, we just need to run the clock out, and they can't stop our running game. Its the perfect time to call a quadruple reverse throwback pass from the center to our 8th string RB who doesn't even play for the scout team!"

Crazy that he's still the most successful coach we've had in like 25 years.

I know. Nutt was a perfectly decent middle of the road SEC coach most of the time and back in the day that was enough to get us to the SEC championship game a few times. But every now and then he'd get wild hare up his arse and go completely off the rails.
Its why I've said many times that Gus Malzahn is Houston Nutt 2.0. He'll be average a lot of years, he'll make some amazingly stupid calls in a game, but you keep him around because every 3 or 4 years he'll get you to the SEC championship game.

That’s not true at all. Fish had 16 punt returns that season, twice as many as anyone else on the team.

Could be and was wrong. I remember Washington and Hillis taking most of them for some reason. I still stand by my statement that Fish had no business being on the field.
Thanks for the correction.
