I can think if Tebow in 2009, but he was mire of a runner.

I know elite QBs who can run & throw are obviously hard to stop, but they seem to often have a career game against Bama.

I’m trying to convince myself Bama can stop Clemson’s golden boy, but I really don’t know if he can win the game with his legs.

Well Drew Lock is a projected top 20 pick in the next few months.

Maybe not elite but I guess Connor cook? Despite kylers numbers I’d still say we did a hell of a job on him. around 50 percent. Should’ve had 2 ints. 4th quarter defense was sadly pretty poor but other than that we did a very good job

Lawrence can evade pressure/run a bit, but he isn't a Murray or manziel or even watson level athlete.
Murray was stopped until the game was out of reach (first 20 minutes out of the 60).

Jake Browning his sophomore year before he got broken by some really suspect coaching was considered elite (production wise).

Lock/Cook were/are both pro level qb talents.

Otherwise there are elite qb's we held to at or below their averages, but it is so hard to shut down a great dual threat or pocket passer.

Lawrence is nowhere near the running threat that Murray or Watson were. He’s mobile enough to make a play here or there but I think we should be able to get after him. What worries me are the deep shot 50-50 balls. He throws them well and there’s not much a pass rush can do to stop those quick fades down the sideline.

neither can a DB, if he can hit 6-8 back shoulder fades in key moments, there is nothing that can be done defensively and he will make this game close. If he gets nervous/misfires/pressured with the front 4, that could make all the difference.

Most QBs don’t do well against Bama.

I’m talking elite...Fromm has been killer against Bama.

Fromm has hit some great throws, but I'm not sure what you are asking because no defense can stop a truly elite QB. In today's CFB/NFL the things a defense can do to stop a qb like that basically boils down to lots of pressure and holding the living hell out of the wrs and if the qb is good against pressure or the refs won't let you do that, they will get theirs.

Tua Tagovailoa in 2017.

Some called Kevin Murray elite but 51% completion pct against a good defense isn't elite.

Lawrence damn sure isn't Deshaun Watson elite.

We have a better chance at slowing down Lawrence than they do at slowing down a healthy Tua.

Speaking of which I'm one of those few on this board that said Tua was the better qb while most of you were saying he would only play after Jalen was done.

in any event, Cryler was supposedly elite and we shut him down passing, and Lawrence is still not as good as DeShaun Watson

Dak P. wasn’t bad. I think he still threw for 300 but was sacked like 10 times. Bama 31-6 over miss st

Kyler Murray. Putting up 400 yards when we are essentially playing prevent for 3 quarters hardly counts as anything.

Some of y’all don’t understand. Golden Boy ain’t gonna beat us with his legs. He can avoid pressure and scrambles well enough to keep you honest but he won’t make a living doing it.

However, he’s a generational arm talent that is better than most NFL quarterbacks already. He will dissect our green secondary if we don’t make him uncomfortable in the pocket. I think we can do that and eventually win the game but he scares me and is the difference maker in the game. If we rattle him and get him doing freshman things, they will lose. If we can’t pressure him into mistakes and he gets comfortable in the pocket, they will win the game. It’s that simple.

This is the year to get Lawrence. I don't want to face the kid as he gets older . . . and even better.
