As bad as we played, it's amazing how close the game was at the end ...

I know it's tough to see tonight, but with our youth, this might be what we need to get us ready for next year. We'll see if our coaches can use this as a motivator for our young team next season when we get most of our players back.

LSU and tonight sure showed one thing though.
CHANEY REFUSES TO ADJUST TO THE DAMN BLITZ!
How hard is it to call a screen when the UT linebackers are literally broadcasting their blitz all night. They didn’t even disguise it

That was an arse kicking, don't let the score fool you.

I’m always glass half full but I’m really worried our window opened and closed. Our team played like they didn’t give two shits in the sugar bowl against Texas. That was embarrassing.

That is exactly what I thought when we blew the national title game.

That was a beat down. We only had two drives worth a damn.

This looked like the team that UCF beat in 2010. Players on the field and on the sidelines looked like they didn't really care.

Congrats to Todd Orlando (Texas DC).He threw the kitchen sink at us and we were completely unprepared and of course we didn't help ourselves
Amazing that he gave up 34 points to Maryland and 42 to
West Virginia.

I always considered this a rebuilding year. We actually ended up doing a bit better than I thought we would this year.
We’re young, most of our team will be back, and hopefully this will serve as an important lesson.
If not, we’ll find out soon enough next season when Notre Dame comes to Athens. In the meantime, I think we over achieved this year and I’m really looking forward to next season.

We might have overachieved last year, but so far this year, we have underachieved quite impressively.

Yeah, that's bad...thought Mark Richt was hiding in the booth calling plays with that unimaginative game he called.

We dug ourselves into a hole in the first quarter with stupid plays and couldn’t get out of it.

We played worse than we did in the LSU game, if that was possible.

What is showed is what we all should have known, our team was overrated. We don't match up well against physical teams. Texas is the same type of team as LSU; big and physical on offense and defense.
Our OL is not good and Chaney's offense has no innovation. When you don't match up in the trenches, you have to have a high level of creativity to focus the point of attack at a weak point. Chaney is not able to do that with his offense.
Basically, Ehlinger got the protection he needed to run their offense and Fromm did not. And when protection broke down, Ehlinger played tough and got critical yards running; Fromm simply does not have this capability. To be honest I would much rather have a gritty QB like Ehlinger or Baker Mayfield. I want our team to have an image as a tough/gritty team on offense and defense not a wimp team that folds against physical teams.

Between the boneheaded fake field goal and no-show at LSU, the worst fake punt call of all time, and the complete lack of drive or motivation against Texas, some of the shine has come off Kirby for me. I really hope he's not just another HC that's a great recruiter but can't coach them up.

Are you fricking serious?
This may be the most Disney spin I've ever seen.

So is that.

Fromm has no athletic ability to speak of. You're right about that. He's also not capable of taking a game over with his arm, especially if the run game is stopped. If I was defending us, I would stack the line like Texas did.
As for Chaney, he does not know how to utilize the immense talent we have. No designed plays for Hardman and we rarely utilize the TE except is rare spurts.

All 3 of ours losses were against opponents that controlled the LOS on both sides of the ball. Our best OL has been out most of the season and we obviously don't have enough depth on the OL which is one reason why the line has been shuffled often. Objectively we had the same problem with most of Richt's teams.
So yea, our OL looks good against lesser competition but they got owned last night and got owned vs LSU and we couldn't move the ball in the 4th quarter vs Bama when we had to in the 4th quarter in both of the games vs Bama.

uote:We don't match up well against physical teams. So is that.
We played 3 physical teams this season and lost to all three. Texas dominated the LOS on both sides of the ball. Their running backs broke tackles; ours did not. Their receivers made plays against our DB's our receivers dropped multiple passes. Ehlinger played tough and got critical yards running when his protection broke down. Meanwhile Fromm was getting tripped up from behind and in general is just not a tough gritty runner. That my friend is the definition of getting owned by a more physical team.
As for Chaney, we will never win a NC with Chaney's offense. He's just way too predictable and without a dual-threat QB, we are unable to improvise against the better teams.
I don't like Fields' attitude but I tend to agree with you that he wasn't developed properly. Honestly the smartest thing Smart could have done after recruiting Fields would have been to hire a competent OC who knows how to develop a dual-threat QB and install an offense that takes advantage of his talent. As much as I respect Fromm's ability to read defenses and perform well against the teams we should beat, I don't think we will ever win a NC with a QB like Fromm at the helm.
