The committee will have a hard time explaining 4-6

If you emphasize conference championships, or you emphasize fewer losses, then you put OU and tOSU 4 and 5. If you push those two things aside and go with who has been more dominant and wins the "eye test" for the team that looks like the best, you put Georgia 4th and the other two 5 and 6. I can't imagine the gymnastics you use to put OU 4, UGA 5, and tOSU 6. That seems crazy. Whichever way you pick them, Oklahoma and Ohio State are next to each other and Georgia is either ahead of them or behind them.

He just explained it, and it was a clear contradiction. He said there was no team unequivocally better, which means you go to the one loss conference champ...yet they moved Ohio State to 6th. There is no consistency.

It's a little inconsistent, but OU had a 3 point loss they made up for against the same team
OSU got blasted by a very, very mediocre team
UGA had a better loss than OSU and another loss to #1 which doesn't make up the balance, IMO

He said Oklahoma, Georgia, and Ohio State were basically even.
So according to the committee I guess Ohio State and Oklahoma are almost as good as Alabama.

In truth none of those 3 are almost as good as bama.

But 5 and 6 don’t matter so...

who really cares if you are #5 or #6? One is first loser and the other is second loser.

3-6. If conference championship matters then why the hell is ND in?

Congrats on the National Title Bama. I’m going to pull an Auburn and root for you guys. I hope you win every fricking game by 5 TD’s.

Since 4-6 did not have a team that was "unequivocally" better than the other two, then you go to the criteria they use, the first of which is supposed to be conference champions.
In the end, no matter what is said and how they slice it, it comes down to a vote. They don't use consistent criteria. So it is what it is.

Seems like their criteria changes every single year. Every year they look at it differently

Not sure if you noticed, but the committee cares only for the bottom line. uga must still be slightly behind okie on the profitability chart.

I will be surprised if we are higher than #6, and it wouldn't surprise me if we were lower than #6.

Maybe the preference given to conference champs only comes into play with ranking the top 4, and after the top 4 it’s just resume against resume period.

Not really
They went away from the computers to people to bring relevance back to the PAC and B1G. When they jumped Ohio State over Penn State who won the CCG it was the clearest indication of what they really wanted.
Smith of Ohio State is on the CFP committee
