It’s like we have a first year coach every year
Same excuses every year. I get it’s a tough spot, but damn

We're going to look like Arkansas did this year in football.

when will enough be enough with Frank Martin?
He can't recruit and now he looks completely inept on the court. The team looks like they don't give a shite.

He's gone after this season. We look like we may win 2 or 3 conference games max.

Just a fwiw but Ray never wanted Martin. Ray wanted to keep Horn fyi and I know that for an absolute fact. Hyman decided not to leave it to Ray (Ray was of the opinion that his buddy Horn would turn things around and that they wouldn't have to pay Horn as much money.) decided not to leave it to Ray and went after Martin before he resigned.
Some, some really well connected members of the high council, some say several members of the BoTs wanted Hyman to make a hire rather than waiting and letting Ray make the hire because Hyman had a history of good hires when it came to basketball coaches.
With that said, Ray suddenly loved Frank when Frank took us to the Final Four ... typical Tanner move.
Anyways, IMHO Frank will work his way through this and we'll still do okay this year. It is what it is with regard to non-qualifiers and injuries. As far as losing instate talent that's been going on forever and a day. It was happening long before Martin got here and we've had very few reprieves with the exception of the Felton and Fogler years.
Ride it out folks. shite happens.
When I was a teenager Frank McGuire and a #4 Carolina team lost to Furman in the first round of the dance. Loses like this are nothing new to us or many other P5 programs. It happens all the time in basketball.
Ride it out. It's going to be okay.

This alone should've disqualified him from being AD.

If that’s true, Tanner did a shite job of showing it. The only noticeable thing I saw our AD do in celebration of that accomplishment was that awful excuse of a banner ceremony.
I like Frank. But if our recruiting can’t even improve by a smidgen following a Final Four appearance, I don’t know how things are going to change.
The effort and showing tonight was piss poor, I think it’s clear we’re in for a long season. We need a serious upgrade in skill.

I strongly disagree with you.

And that alone proves that Ray Tanner is not AD material.

I think we need a guy that preaches Offense.
Especially in this day and age of the sport.
We can never shoot and the only reason we made that final four run is because we became unconscious from outside.
Check the stats, we scored 93 and shot 52 % from the field against Marquette
Score 88 vs duke and had 5 guys in double figures (thornwell notice and fielder all
Shot 50% from 3)
40 % from 3 against Baylor
And our starting 5 all in double figures and 77 vs Florida
Gonzaga beat us because they shot 47% from 3
While we struggled in the big football stadium

Furman was a damn good team back in the days nothing like they are now so you should have mentioned that. Why should we , as fans, accept mediocrity? If you think this team is going to be fine this year, well I've got bad news for you. Screw riding it out Franks needs to ride his arse up out of here.

I like Coach Martin in the way he coaches young men in the development of being human beings. Honor, discipline, and all that jazz...
That being said, the way the game is played these days has surpassed his style of basketball. He is still in the big man era and preaching defense philosophies. When every level of basketball is now in the Golden State Warrior's era of light up the scoreboard, ignore defense, and any big men on the team have to be able to shoot 3's and move around.
We need a fast paced, transition style offensive coach, who recruits shooters.

I honestly think his style of play would be better off at a private school in the big east or one of those other northeastern conference.
South Carolina IS not a basketball school. we aren't going to show up if he's not winning. At those schools, that's all they have, that is THEIR football (G Town, Depaul, Nova etc)
Not saying any of those schools will be firing their coach anytime soon, and especially the way he likes recruiting the North east, why not?
Can we lure Brad Underwood away?
his one year at Okie State they went to the tourney in probably the best conference in the nation at the time, as a team shot 42% from 3, 46% from the field and 79 from the FT line.
Last year at Illinois he struggled to win games in a complete rebuild, but had similar shooting numbers, and this year although 2-4 have the same numbers and the 4 losses are to Gonzaga, GTown, Iowa State and Xavier (2 Big East teams the #1 team and a very good ISU team)
Last year for our team we shot 33% from 3, 39 % from the field and 70 from the Line.
We've NEVER had a good shooting team. Something has to change. And we only made that run in the Tourney because of how well our offense played.

Ive said this about Football and I'll say it about basketball.
I don't care if the kid kicks kittens on his spare time.
Gimme a kid like Zion any day.
Who by the way I'm pleasantly surprised about.
Thought he was going to be this one trick pony, but he's a bad man. Reminds me of Shawn Kemp and Charles Barkley.
Although RJ is the best player on that team, hes the first overall pick next year.

Ride it out to what? Another bad year next year, and the year after? I'm beginning to legitimately hate Frank Martin, and I was one of his biggest supporters when he was hired. If you take out that one two week run, the rest of his tenure has been a complete disappointment, and seems to be actually getting worse.
You can't win without players, like Sin and PJ for example, and he doesn't seem to have the desire or ability to go get them anymore. The Final Four run was one of my favorite experiences as a Gamecock fan, but I'd almost be willing to bet we'll never be in the tournament again with Martin coaching.

Honestly PJ was an amazing player in his time at Carolina.
But Sin was the real reason and the most talented guy we've had on this team in a long time (probably Balkman) as seen how he's actually on an NBA roster.
I have to ask because I can't find this but was he a Horn Recruit?

Sin was a Frank recruit I believe...yup he signed in 2013 franks second year here
