That's all ???? That's a lot. I think Frank has lost his drive. He didn't have to prove anything here (Kansas was successful) and he and Tanner became good buddies quick. Frank has a fantastic personality, he is compassionate, and the athletic program employees love him. There in, is a lot of the problem. If people love you (no pressure) and you have nothing to prove (again, no pressure) and you already took the program to it's highest point (again...really no pressure), most just "go through the motion" from that point on. Frank's defense of the players and his demeanor scream..."I am just not into it anymore "!It has passed on to his team the last two years.

I think what really started to piss him off was post final four.

The following year not many fans showed up.

I can't say that would happen at other schools, specifically basketball ones.

But at here basketball is not held to the same regard as others.

frick even Florida post 2 national titles didn't get the same crowd as say UNC, Duke, Kentucky etc.

The product had been watered down and most knew it. These ..losing 8 of 11..streaks are what took the wind out of the sail. I have said before..I don't go to bad movies..I don't eat at bad restaurants....and (even though I support them ) I don't attend bad sporting events. The expensive food, drink and other things seem to taste better when you are winning...lol...

What about football though?

You just stop going through the 1-10 0-11 seasons?

Because I agree with you, but there's something about football, I guess because there are less games and it's a much more social event.

I still watched every game during our 3-9 season too and even went back down to a few games.

I didn't. The 2014 and 2015 football seasons took an awful lot of my enjoyment for Carolina football, and I pretty much stopped watching live at that point. Now, I record and watch later if it's a good game.

Martin's Sin/PJ years were the opposite. I made it a point to watch every game live. I even made plans to go to a few road games (each one getting shot down for various reasons), when I wouldn't do that for football. But yeah, it's clear that he's lost his fire. He's allowed washed up Rick Barnes and never was Avery Johnson to beat the shite out of him on the recruiting trail, when he had more to sell than either of them.

I like Frank. I like Frank's style of basketball. But Frank isn't getting us back to SEC respectability anytime soon. Recruiting is too important, and Frank is too bad at it.

I enjoy defense, effort and hustle over natural ability. But I recognize that basketball is changing, and that it's harder and harder to get talented kids to play that style.

Big difference in football than basketball in the south. Basketball is about the game. Football is the culture, its the tailgating and being with friends that you only see on Saturdays. It's programed into us that this is what we do on gamedays.

I knew the answer I was just trying to get it out of him.

Football will always be top dog here like basketball is top dog at Kentucky.

It's also much easier to watch a shitty football game (for me atleast) than it is to watch a shitty basketball game.

I mean I'm a Panthers and Gamecocks fan so I've been doing it for a while.

No...but for a totally different reason. Tailgating is an event on it's own. It is a "family, friends" reunion built around the football game. It is unique and a dual event...so if one fails...the other usually lives up to it....lol...if that makes sense.

Exactly.
Makes tons of sense though.

Football is just another animal really, I ask it to Giants and Jets fans I meet here all the time.

You still go to see them with that product? (Yep)
And they pack the stadium every weekend.

That said there are schools where basketball is this way. Not the tailgating aspect, but def this way in the Big East.

"dude st johns is 0-12, you're still going?"

"yep"

I'm sorry IBG. Seems like I'm ruining everyone's fun over here today so I'm going to shift over to Cockytalk to work on my sunshine pumping ( except for any of the Frank Martin discussions as there is no sunshine in that rain storm).
