Why did we run 4 plays before half with 3 timeouts??

I just caught the game at that point, in a bar with no sound. We had the ball, got a first down running so had some breathing room, ball over the 20. Then we ran four times in a row.
Stidham was obviously very annoyed, as was the whole team, had his passing sucked that bad at that point that gus did not want to even attempt to make it competitive.
Not judging, just curious...

Because Gus knew what he was doing according to some people.

Given the situation it was the right decision.

Because when you're on the road an underdog against your biggest rival, who is undefeated, and you're within one possession, the best possible decision is to play passive and conservative.

Because our "coach" has absolutely NO KILLER INSTINCT

I was assured by the smartest Gus-tard Fellators around that that was the smartest thing to do at that point.
Because taking a chance was risky! RISKY! RISKY!

No it wasn't. Gus killed all momentum and just let Bama have the ball back. The defense had just forced two three and outs so if the offense sputtered we had a confident defense to fall back on. And who the hell coaches like that anyways. You coach with confidence in your guys on both sides of the ball at all times

Play conservative. We are down by three, and they are getting the ball to start the second half, thats not conservative thats a coma. At least try a few patented screens, or throw it away deep a few times.

They got the ball back to start the second half.
We supposedly run a HUNH offense. 1:30 with 3 timeouts should have been an eternity and plenty of time to get in FG range or something.
At least throw.a deep bomb to Swartz.
Try something... don;'t just give up a possession knowing your opponent gets the next possession after halftime.

Our QB sucked all game. No way he could have moved the ball in that amt of time.
Sack fumble is what would have happened. Not to mention Stidham has to be forced to throw it deep.
I still would have tried something, but you got the feeling we couldn’t pass deep at that point. Stidham complaining is hilarious.

Gus decided that playing it careful while also pulling out every trick in the play book was the best plan. It was obviously a leave everything on the field, nothing to lose type of game, but he only halfway dived into that. It says more about his distrust in Stidham than anything though.

But but but we were SCARED the offense might not move the ball

I discussed this enough in the game thread and I’m not gonna anymore.
But it’s funny how upset y’all are getting about this. I’m also 100% comfident that if Gus goes for it and Stidham throws a pick y’all are all over his case anyways

We have to be careful so Jarrett doesn't frick it up!
But we also have to try every low-percentage trick play in my playbook!
Is that about right?

Gus made a point to point out that the fake FG was a high percentage play. He said that verbatim lol.

We are basing our program on a low-intelligence retard lol

Nope I'm never against trying to put more points on the board.

Gus quit and the team followed suit

I'm not sure, but if you'll go to the game thread, there's 35 pages of beatbammer arguing with someone else about it
