I can answer this. As a member of a fan base that has had a couple of embarrassing members myself...
I’m going to sound like a jerk, but I was always glad he was not an Alabama fan.

Today is Mental Health Awareness day
I hope he hasn't done anything bad. To me he is a national treasure and a proud SEC Fan. He's a great young man and human being.
I would be glad to call him a friend and one of our own.

Stingray gave up on them. He's tired of losing all the time. He was all excited, like the rest of the state fans, for this season bc they had "the best team they've ever had" and got smacked down to reality once again. He knows that this is as good as it will ever get at state and has brought his abilities elsewhere. I don't blame him.

Bama fans never accepted him, state fans liked him but got tired of him after Tosh, so maybe he thought he'd give Mizzou a try.

I liked Stingray until the Tosh thing. That was too much. MSU fans pretty much disowned him after that.

If you seek out your fifteen minutes of fame, you open yourself up to every keyboard warrior saying whatever they want about you. The world is often a very cruel place. If you can't handle that, maybe just maybe you shouldn't seek attention by putting videos with your name and face on YouTube, calling into Finebaum, going on Tosh's show, etc.
There's a reason most people on here don't want our real names out there or pictures of us. I don't want to open myself up to that. I see little value in doing so. I don't need to be known. I value my privacy and have a family to think of.
So yeah, people suck. Should you be surprised? There's also a lot of fantastic people out there that will pleasantly surprise you.
I wish Stingray the best. But the world isn't going to just show up and tell you what a great person you are.
Honestly, I forgot where I was going with this. It sucks to get old.
