Some moron negotiated the contract so that if he gets fired, he gets the full balance of money left on his contract. So, in other words, if he finished this season and got fired, Ole Miss would have to pay him over $9 million. I can't tell you how many reasons why this is unbelievably stupid.

Is 100% accurate? If so, bjork needs to be the first one fired

That's ridiculous. You're certifiable if you didn't think we'd be firing Luke eventually.

I don't even think Saban has a contract that guarantees full compensation.

I have a hard time believing this. If this is true Bjork needs to fired now not tomorrow or the next day now.

If the Matt Luke buyout won't doesn't get you out on the ledge then let me also mention that Wesley McGriff is in the first year of a 3 year, 1.1 million dollar deal.

Okay. $9 million buyout. But Matt Luke LOVES Ole Miss! If he really, truly loves OM, step down and forego the buyout. He's already raping the University for $3,150,000 (he gets the extra 150 for beating Tech).

Something tells me that Matt loving Ole Miss is just so much bull hockey.

Fathom this; he won't be fired but he'll HAVE to fire probably Longo and for sure McGriff at season end and that's just after we lose the Egg Bowl.

Then, he'll have to hire two complete duds to fill those spots who, if they are completely insane/desperate will take that job, knowing, they're going to be canned at the end of 2019 because after we lose the Egg Bowl again, NOBODY will be able to stand it anymore and the new coach will fire the entire staff out of a cannon and replace them with his own.

He wont have to fire Longo. He will get hired as a HC at a lower level program.

Looks like you are off. USA today article has the buyout at 6 million after the season. That really isn't that bad for most Power 5 head coaching buyouts these days.

That is still absolutely insane for a former underwhelming OL coach. His contract should have been the exact same as Hugh Christ's first deal. You get $750K base and then $150K or whatever for each win. The buyout should have been double of what he made in the firing year. I don't even need to address McGriff.

We fk'ed ourselves for 3+ years because we felt real good about getting lucky and beating State last year.

Each passing week I feel less and less sure this will happen. At least McGriff has the built in excuse of having no talent to work with. He’s about to have a freshman running back at safety. I actually thought the defense played decently hard against LSU. Penalties and idiotic coaching negated all the stops we made, but that’s a different problem.

Longo on the other hand has a seasoned O Line, solid QB, stacked WR room, and a really solid running back and even a top tier TE. Every position is really solid. He has managed 2 TDs against SEC opponents. What a joke. His whole “take what the defense gives you” game plan is apparently pretty easy to scheme against. Saban even talked shite about it after the game this year.

His offensive system is way too dependent on home run plays. I think even the casual observation of the offense is proving it’s not SEC ready. The jump from small school ball to SEC ball hasn’t happened yet and we can’t afford to wait 5 years. Maybe it would work in the PAC 12 or at Texas Tech but not when you’re facing loaded defenses every week.

I think Longo’s offense will cap out at mid level sec wins but never take us above an LSU, Bama, Georgia, Auburn type defense year after year. As cool as it is to put up 50 on shitty schools I’d much rather be able to move the ball against the good teams.

I've been saying this all along. The defense is terrible but the offense hasn't helped the defense at all. The two schemes are the complete opposites. The quick struck TDs might quite possibly be the worst thing for a defense lacking depth.

There are 3 first round players and 7 or 8 NFL players on offense and we still are only big play or bust.

One of our biggest problems is 3rd Down Conversion Rate. We are 85th nationally. At one point against LSU we were something like 1 of 10. Mixed in with that were several three and outs. That's a recipe for getting your arse whipped. Especially with our defense. I'm just about done trying to figure out what's wrong with our offense though. The only silver lining is we've already played Bama and at LSU. Might be the two toughest games we play all year. Surely to goodness we can show some improvement or at least not fall so flat the rest of the way.

Let's also not forget about being penalized 49 times for 448 yards on the season. Only two teams in all of FBS have more.
