You do realize that the SEC is more than just football. There are multiple sports programs...men and women's.

Arky and USC made sense for the SEC.

We just need to add Va or Va/Tech and NC STate to complete our southern dominance.

This thread shows how pathetic South Carolina fans really are.

So proud....

So proud of what exactly? Being a joke? Never doing anything but losing and riding coat tails?

It’s embarrassing watching you guys.

Missouri has already accomplished more in their first 3 seasons.

But let me guess.... you’re so proud.

I just wish USCe was Ole Miss’ permanent cross division rival so I would have an excuse to visit SC more often.

It’s too bad you guys have made it to the final 4 and another team from columbia hasn’t. Despite being a “basketball school”.

Yikes.

No problem, as you can see, the Dores were the Vols daddies early on.

quote:

The SIAA was founded on December 21, 1894, by Dr. William Dudley, a chemistry professor at Vanderbilt, at the Kimball House in Atlanta. Dudley was a member of the Vanderbilt Athletic Association, formed in 1886 with Dr. W. M. Baskerville as president. Most students at Vanderbilt were members. The early sports played on the Vanderbilt campus were baseball, bicycling, and track and field events. Dudley was primarily responsible for the formation of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The first advance in the direction of its formation was in March 1888 when the Vanderbilt Athletic Association endeavored to secure track and field meets at Vanderbilt from Southwestern Presbyterian University, Sewanee, and Tennessee.

Here is a picture of the Kimball House in Atlanta where the SIAA was born

However... Like TAMU, it was more like getting the band back together

South Carolina and Texas A&M were in the SIAA, grandmother to the SEC

Texas A&M got sucked into the Southwest Conference

South Carolina was in the Southern Conference, mother to the SEC

Sadly in both these conferences the Taters had snuck in through the service entrance. Briggs got himself the presidency after Dudley stepped down which allowed the Taters to hang around. Fortunately the Sewanee folks got Phillips to take over so the SEC could form without the Taters.

In 1932 the SEC was born and South Carolina was on the wrong side of the mountains in the age of trains. I know this does not seem like a big deal but it was back then. The ACC would form with other teams on the costal side of the mountains where the Cocks would be stuck until better travel methods could be invented. The ACC formed with the costal SIAA / SoCon schools in VA, NC, and SC. The 1950's meant roads and early air travel which would replace trains as the means of travel for teams and fans.

In the mid 60's Georgia Tech and Tulane would leave the SEC and in the early 1970's the Cocks would choose to leave the All Carolina Conference and wander the desert as an Independent like Moses leading the Jews out of Egypt.

Here is a recreation of the Cocks being set free

In the 1990's the turds north of the Ohio Ocean decided to mess up college football by buying teams to make the relevant and Penn (you gonna get raped) State got hooked on the line while Notre Dame did not bite the shiny hook the B1G was trolling the water with. SEC looked around and saw former band member South Carolina and took pity on Holocaust survivor from the SWC and threw Arkansas a life preserver. Hogs quickly repaid the SEC with a basketball Natty.

In the 2010's the B1G again needed to expand their dying lands and hooked Nebraska while yet again the Irish spit the hook and landed in the ACC's boat while the SEC added TAMU back to the fold after about a century because history matters to the SEC. The conference also saw Gee in the B1G was trolling for KU and MU so the SEC dropped a line in the water and got MU just to piss off the B1G and they had to settle for Rutgers.

While I love having SC and TAMU back in the fold, I understand the toxic environment the Hogs and Tigers hd to live through without the original security blanket of the old SIAA so accept they are more used to animosity of their former conference lords in the SWC and Big 8. While the Hogs are more midwest and the Tigers are more Yankees they are our brothers now so we must accept them with open arms. Just wish the Tigers would win something so they could have some pride in their new home. Hopefully their time will come and they can settle down with Arkansas and become better rivals.

For the young whippersnappers who don't want to read all the stuff above.

SIAA is older than the Western Conference so f*ck the B1G

The mountains between Cola and Athens?

Must have flattened out in the last century since you visited.
