im in knoxville TN at a work convention, and ive had two people ask me "So MS is pretty racist right?"
My answer to both: "not anymore than anywhere else in the country"
People are so gullible. of course one of the dumbasses was from Oregon. Those people are out of their minds.

There are way more racists in the northeast than the south.

Did you ask him why they are too dumb in OR to pump their own gas?

The race transition is from East to West not North to South. Many of those pac. north westerners never had to deal with any race division.

I actually know the reason they aren't allowed to pump their own gas! I don't miss the place at all.

Much less so than many places, being that we all live in close proximity to each other and have to get along.

The only other state in the US with that issue is New Jersy

Lived in FL, SC, NC, TN, and GA. MS is the least racist place I’ve ever lived. I think it’s because of small schools and almost equal proportion of black/white. Everyone gets to know each other and their family. It’s not like in larger schools with all the cliques, etc.

Have you ever left Atlanta for any other part of Georgia. Dear God.

This thread is hilarious. So if there was a scale where the racist quality of all states was plotted, everyone here thinks MS is right in the middle? And part of the rationale is “we have to live together so we have to figure it out”?

looks like you might be in the minority in this thread. Tell us your experience with racism in Mississippi

I’ll bet you all the beers he doesn’t have one. As one of our famous writers put it,
“To understand the world, you must first understand a place like Mississippi.”

It’s not rationale. It’s reality.

Reading through this thread I think blacks and liberals broke Mississippi.

The joke you should have gone for is "Mississippi isn't racist any more. Or any less."
As someone who has lived all over the country, yeah, Mississippi is fairly racist. So is DC, Chicago, parts of Arkansas (I say parts of because some of the low population mountain counties only see black people when they watch Razorback sports so they don't really get a chance to practice racism that much), and Florida. Wait, I almost forgot Wisconsin, which is racist in that laid back drunken cheesehead sort of way.
My top two on the list would be New England (particularly Boston) and California. Both of which were so racist as to make me uncomfortable and I grew up in the 70s.
Both, however, pale in comparison to the amazing levels of racism to be found in Europe and Asia.
I don't think Miss. is the most racist place I've ever seen, the younger generations in particular seem to have a lot of rougher edges worn off, but its hardly a paradise of racial relations. Then again... where is?

Probably not but I doubt whites want blacks inter breeding in their family...or vice versa...there would be your true racism I think.
